Having lost my original Medion PDA (bought as part of the Aldi bundled GPS system) I have replaced it with another Mitac 168 (Mio Digiwalker). I now find that the original Medion Navigator v4.2 software fails to detect the integral or mouse GPS receivers supplied. I have tried changing the various GPS configuration settings in the "Medion" software but to no avail.
Please can anyone advise how to overcome this.

Thanks

The original bundled Medion software that came with the GPS Mouse will only work with that receiver. Are you using the original GPS Mouse?

I have a Medion 95000 (Mitac Mio 168) and the settings on mine are as follows:

Type of receiver -- Standard GPS
Com-Port -- Com1 ( if you go into the dialogue box it says "serial cable on SP2")
Baud -- 4800 (unchangeable on mine, greyed out)

If you can alter your protocol settings, make sure it is set to NMEA.

As far as I am aware the software is not locked to a particular PDA, so it should work with your 168.
If these settings don't work, maybe someone with a Mitac branded machine can post their settings.

Good luck!

Jon.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.
I've now resolved the problem by trying various GPS settings and found the following to work - "other GPS receiver", COM Port 2 and 4800 baud rate.

Hello neutron

I also have a Mio168, as well as the Medion 95000, have never tried using the Medion software on the Mio168, but just put the Medion card into the Mio168, clicked the MEDION-Navigator.cab file, it installed and works just fine, using the same settings as the Medion's as 'crankyman' posted above.

Hi
Just a quick question, will the MIO 268 be any good for use on a motorcycle?
Sorry for deviating from your original question, but I have been looking at this unit a wondered if it will suit my needs.

Thanks guys Cuds

It's not waterproof and you won't be able to hear the voice instructions. Have you seen the announcement regarding TomTom's Ryder unit which is intended for a motorcycle, it is waterproof and has a bluettoth earpiece that you wear in the helmet.

Another alternative is Garmin's 2610, BMW sell this as a dealer accessory for installation on their motorcycle range and again these are waterproof.
