I get a C500 today and have been alerted to the fact I could run Sat Nav on it. A quick scan on the web found me here.

Where do I start, I don't know anything about bluetooth etc. and this will be my first experience with a Smartphone. I've seen Tom Tom running on a PDA which looked impressive but I can see it is by no means the only option.

Help, what do I need, I travel in the UK only and I want a neat setup as I already have another car kit in the car (for the work phone) plus a Road Angel.

Your only realistic option is Tom Tom. CoPilot for Smartphone is so buggy that it is almost unusable. Confused

While I searched for car kits, I found this car kit from Seidio.

It is a GPS/hands free car kit for imate sp3 and C-500. They also have many accessories available for Imate sp3/C-500 including car charger.

Check it out.

Note that it is a fancy car mount and has nothing to do with GPS. Because you cannot connect any GPS with it. The only GPS you can use with C500 is bluetooth, and you do not need a car mount for that.
But of course a lot of people are buying car mounts which may be usefull with power/speaker features etc. You will have to decide whether it is worth it.

If you already have a GPS in the car, you can get a bluetooth adapter to connect to the Road Angel, and that may be best suitable for you.

OK, I had no idea I could use the Road Angel in this respect. Can you point me towards any other info in this respect?

G9BTA is waht you need.

It connects straight to the original Road Angel.
If you have the new Road Angel 2, you will also need a PC serial cable from Blackspot.

One note though.
We have not tested it on Smartphone but I see no reason why it does not work if other BT GPS do.

I went back to Seidio site and found out they have two types of car kit

- With amplfied speaker
- without amplfied speaker

http://www.seidioonline.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=CK8BG21MSP3

Both can do the hands free, because it comes with an external microphone. but I think it is nice to have a speaker, beacuse I can listen to the GPS commands loud and clear plus I can do the hands free with the external microphone. It also holds and charge C500.
