Don't know if anyody else has this problem, but I just cannot upgrade from 3.01 to 3.03, or install TT Traffic (3.04) without 'losing' my map.

I have just one map installed on a verified CF card, along with the app software. If I try to install any new versions of TTN then when I restart, I get the 'No maps found. Please install and activiate a new one' message.

I have tried re-installing it with maps first/maps last, but no luck. What does 'install' maps mean? I just copy them off my PC. Should I be going through a proper install routine?

Thanks,

Pete

If you are familiar with a registry editor then you can tweak that yourself.

Normally just copying the maps to the CF card should work, but sometimes the registry doesn't get updated properly, and you have to manually indicate where it should look for the map.

How exactly do you do this in the registry, please?

Navigate to HKCU\Software\TomTom\TomTom Navigator\Maps and set the "LastMap" string value to the name of the map value in the same branch. Alternatively you can also set it to the folder path where your maps are. for example \Sorage Card\Navigator\Texas_South Navigator Map\

Map directories must end with "...map" to be recognized by TomTom.

I've done that but sadly with no succes.

I continue to get the error:

"No maps found, please install and activate an original TomTom Navigator 3 map first."

I can't understand it. When I installed 3.01, no problems. Try 3.03 and 3.07 and I get this message.

Unistall 3.07, re-install 3.01 and all is fine.

The only three Registry I have are:

(Default) - Empty
Great_Britain - \CF Card2\My Documents\Great_Britain Navigator Map\
LatMap - \CF Card2\My Documents\Great_Britain Navigator Map\

Any ideas?

John

Do you really have a "CF Card2" ? Or maybe it has a different name? Storage cards are known to change names when you insert a new one too quickly after removing the old one.

Yes, the card name is CF Card2.

I've emptied it and tried to rename it to CF Card but I can't. I've reformated it to FAT16 32k clusters, but I can't seem to be able to change the volume name.

I haven't got a card reader for CF cards - I believe this might be one one of renaming it.

Is the name of the card got anything to do with why 3.07 won't 'see' the map?

My registry shows:

Great_Britain - \SD Card\My Documents\Great_Britain Navigator Map\
LastMap - "Great_Britain"

I may not have been clear enough. It's not you who renames the cards, it's the Pocket PC OS. For example if you have a "Storage Card" and quickly take it out and insert another one, that one first may appear as "Storage Card2" but then when you take that out and re-insert it it may get the original name "Storage Card" back.

CF Card2 is a very unusual name. Are you using some kind of CF Jacket?

Is this a genuine copy of TomTom you are using? I ask because this normally occurs when you try to upgrade a 'pirate' copy that has not been correctly unlocked.

Apologies if yours is legitimate, if it is then you ought to speak to TomTom. If it's not then you can't install later versions and should be buying the genuine thing.
