|
|
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Fortuna charger has two power leads.
Which means I can charge both the Fortuna Clip On and my iPaq.
But... that's what I'm not sure about...?
IS it OK to charge my iPaq?
The power lead, as long as you have the relevant adapter, could charge any other PDA.
Surely different models have differen voltage or current requirements?
This now means that I don't have to get a holder to charge my iPaq.
I wouldn't have used the holder to view directions anyway.
The sound directions are more than fine for me.
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I used the extra connector to charge my Dell Axim X30 and it appeared to go OK. Doesnt mean it is OK to do this - just letting you know it worked for me and I havent noticed any side effects (has only been a few days since I tried) |

I'm dealing with this issue at the moment too. I don't have the clip-on charger with me but I think it's 850mA output. Check your charger but I think PDA chargers usually have a 1A output. So when charging the GPSR and PDA you'll supply them with 425mA each. PDAs can be charged from a USB port which is around 500mA. Basically I don't think they'll be any harm in charging the PDA but it will take longer to charge because of the lower current.
You might be able to charge your mobile from the same charger using:

I have a nokia charger that has 5.7v/800mA output
I've ordered a USB travel charger, hopefully it will work ok with the clip-on/PDA (5.5v/1A output I think)

On a related issue does anybody know a place (on-line or off) where I can get a US-Europe plug adapter in the UK. It would turn the Clip-on's charger into a travel charger since it already comes with US and UK plugs. |

I use the Fortuna charger with an ipaq 4150 and it works OK. One thing I have noticed when use the lighter socket in the car is that the ipaq charging LED (red) does not blink if I have both devices charging at the same time so I play safe and charge them seperately. |

Just had a reply from Fortuna:
"Yes, it is ok to charge your Ipaq with our standard Clip-On charging cable. "

In reply to MarkH's request (probably to late now), the 2 places good for electronic accessories are:
1. on-line = www.CPC.co.uk
2. shops = Maplins (also on-line www.maplins.co.uk)
Hope this helps
