I have the CD for benelux. When I do the installation, I am not asked if I want french or dutch names for the maps. it installs Dutch names.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks
George

I guess map names are decided by tomtom but if you want to change the map names do the following.

if you want to change the benelux map name go to file explorer and navigate to your storage card , open the benelux folder and there will be 2 files called "Benelux" , press and hold and then rename the file to anything you want but both files must have the same name, otherwise tomtom will not find the maps.

try it at your own risk , if you have any troubles just rename them back to the original name.

Thanks for the reply.

Could it be that there is a french road version and a Dutch? Because I've tried anything and still the name of the roads appear in Dutch!

black_cabbie,

I don't have TT3 but I know that on TT2 EuroMaps there are both French and Dutch versions of the Benelux maps on CD1. You have to load the correct version off the CD.

On TT2 during the installation you were prompted to either install french or dutch names. On TT3 it installs Dutch no matter what you do. I was hoping there was a french version but so far I haven't been able to find a solution. Maybe I have to send a mail to Tomtom support.

i do not think you can change the names of the roads , names are names ,
if you are in france you have french names and in germany you have german names.
if you have an address from The netherlands ,sure you have it in dutch.

It is very simple but you need to know. If you choose French names then it will use French names in Bruxelles. If you choose Dutch names then it will use Dutch names in Brussel.

Bruseels is officially a bi-lingual city so both map sets are required as all names are gicn in both languages on paper maps. It would take too much space to do this on Tomtom.

But how do you do this in V3? In V2 it offered the choice, but I get the Dutch names in V3 as well.

The problem is that although Brussels is officially bilingual, everyone invariably uses the French street names, and it is not easy to guess what the Dutch version is, even if you speak Dutch.

I use the Palm version where both are on the CD and I had to choose before loading to a card.

Certainly difficult to work out Brussels names from one langauge to another!

OK, I've got it!

The Benelux maps are on 2 Cds, CD1 is the dutch names and CD2 is the French names. There is nothing that indicates this, so everyone installs CD1 and gets the Dutch names.
