Folks, I noticed loads nice POIs the link from one of the other topics, and noticed that a lot of them are probably similar to the ones the TTG comes with.
E.g.
Petrol Stations, Railway stations.
Q1: Is it worth updating to these sorts of things, or are the default ones sufficient?
Q2: Does anyone know if the Postcode POI's are worth getting? Wat exactly do they do? E.g. the Central London Postcode POI.

HI,
I would update them as they are better than the ones that come with tom tom go and you can use updates and pre instaled pois together . If you don`t like them just delete.
I would advise the same with the postcodes, install them and have a play , but what they do is allow you to search for a full postcode rather than the TTGOs short ones.

If in Q2 you are referring to the George Spanellis Code Search files then you may like to have a look at my Windows PC program CodeSearch which is in the Downloads area http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownload&cid=22
The program makes it easy to extract a subset of postcodes and create a TT POI overlay which you can transfer to TT Go. I have no experience of using TT Go but using large OV2 files with TT3 on a PocketPC system is quite slow. Hence I wrote CodeSearch. If you also use TTN3 then Niels Thomsen's UKPostcodes program for the PocketPC is the one to use.

So the postocde would be full codes but the mechanism is the same i.e. u choose city, then street, then full postcode?
Another thing is when you do a new route search, is there a way of by-passing the step where TTG asks you for the city/street name, and just setting the postcode as the destination?
