I may be a bit late off the mark but I thought it interesting that TomTom have released their new devices and revisited their old naming methodology by calling them the TomTom Go 400, 500 & 600.

Are TomTom trying to warm our hearts to their new devices and hopefully get us old GO users to upgrade?

When I last spoke to TomTom a few weeks ago, they were trying to sell the idea of upgrading to me (not a chance) by saying that there would be full itinerary support... so where is it?

Having borrowed one for a few days, I genuinely think the new units are a DEgrade from the older range (1000, 1005, etc) and the numbering reflects that. Although the layout is pretty, it seems slower and for all the reasons you'll have seen posted, the functionality is much thinner.

They're much more orientated to casual users IMHO, not upgraders.

A comment which might well be described as apposite in relation to all new units since the x20 range. Evil or Very Mad

I agree, although for me, there were just enough positives to usually warrant splashing out on the newer version (just!).

I'm not sure I can think of any other manufacturer who deprecate so much functionality when they introduce new models.

I can... if you include Twitter as a manufacturer and their API as a product :/
