MyTomTom for some reason no longer recognising TomTom 1000. When I plug my device into a USB port, it powers up and I get the message To make a connection, got to tomtom.com/getstarted
I acknowledge this message by pressing OK on my device and I have the small computer icon in the bottom LHS of the display. However, myTomTom does not see my device as being connected.
Uninstalled my TomTom, downlaodedlatest version and installed, still no joy. Reset my device and this has made no difference, neither has trying every USB port on my pc. Appreciate any help as I am getting really fed up with tomtom problems, and there have been enough documented problems of late. |

Thi sis the downside of these Nav 3 units with the locked down access, if a reset won't fix it there is little you can do with it, possibly try it on a different PC but after that it's only use is a door stop/ paper weight.
With the older Nav1 & 2 units you could install a back up to a memory card, insert the card and carry on using the product, this new system introduced with the Go-1000 and a few other devices since you can't do much at all which is the prime reason I would never recommend anyone to purchase them - Mike |

Then a warranty return would be my next course of action. What are comparable alternatives (excluding Garmin) to TomTom, considering I need UK & USA maps. |

If it's still under warranty indeed you should send it back, give TomTom support a ring on 0845 161 0009 to start the process - MIke |

Have you tried a different USB port?
Silly question I know but you would be surprised how many people don't try that. |

I assume you mean a drum reset by holding the power button about 15 seconds till you hear the drum sounds??
Anyway, when connected to the computer, under My Computer, network connections, the TT is NOT getting shown?? _________________ David |
