I am running co-pilot premium. I can hear the Cameralert speed camera announcements but cannot see the Cameralert speed camera Icons. If I run Navigator I can see and hear them. How do I switch on the Cameralert Speed Camera Icons in Co-Pilot? Can anybody help please.

Hi, we can't 'install into copilot' exactly. Our app runs in the background of whatever app you have running. However, when you approach a camera you will get a pop up of the camera details on the screen for a few seconds. If you turn on the overspeed warnings in the advanced settings then you will also get a big speed limit icon pop up if you are still over the set speed limit.

Yes. I know that it runs in the background but it would be very useful if I could see the speed camera icons or else you cannot see their exact location. I can see them in Navigation so why not in Co-Pilot?
Thanks Martyn

...because they don't get installed into the app itself - CamerAlert is a physically separate app. Not even sure if CoPilot live premium accepts 3rd party POIs?!

What do you mean by "I can see them in Navigation"?

In google Navigation the Icons come to the front. As Co-pilot won the App of the year there must be thousands of users like me who are trying to use Cameralert with it. A little bit of investigation by your team may be worthwile.
Thanks Martyn

I'm still not following you fully.. regardless of what app you are using, CamerAlert warnings WILL show up at the bottom for a few seconds as you approach a camera. If you have over-speed limits turned on then you will also get the speed limit pop ups if you are over the limit still.

Are you suggesting in Google navigation that the icons themselves somehow appear on your map?!

Are you seeing the icons on the map from Google within the CamerAlert app itself or are you saying you see them in the app called Google Maps. This may support 3rd party POIs (it has basic functionality on the iPhone version) though I haven't tried to set the PGPSW POIs to show on it.

As MaFt notes, it's up to CoPilot to enable 3rd party POIs to be shown within their app. Even then, I don't know how it would work as CamerAlert is in the background just flashing up warnings in front of whatever app you are running.

When I use my TOMTOM on my PDA I not only hear a warning about a particular speed camera but I also see where the camera is positioned on the road. This enables me to judge the position of the speed camera and take the necessary action. That is all I want to do using both Cameralert with Co-Pilot when working together. IS this too much to ask.
thanks Martyn

Gerry. you are asking me all sorts of questions that I would expect your company to know the answers. Surley it is not too much to expect that you looked into the compatibility issues with all the popular Sat Nat Apps. Can you not see the benefit of a guide that your customers could use for them to choose the best App for their needs instead of leaving it all to guess work.
Thanks Martyn

@ AuntyFlossie.
From where do you get the impression that PGPSW belongs to Gerry. He is a forum moderator, but as far as I know, PGPSW 'belongs' to various others generally with the 'rank'of staff. I think you'l find that CamerAlert is a stand alone app that does not 'integrate' with anything, but runs 'alongside/underneath' other nav s/w. Whereas your POIs and speed cam warnings are 'part of' TT

You are right I am not aware of Pocket GPS' command structure. BUT hopefully they will read these posts and come up with an answer.

Did you not fully understand the posts by MaFt (Staff) above. He clearly states that CamAlert will not do what you appear to want it to do, if what you want it to do is overlay the cameralert cams in the correct map position on top of the co-pilot map as per TT POIs etc. And he also clearly states what it will do.

auntyflossie - CamerAlert doesn't integrate with ANY sat nav app. It can't make icons appear in ANY sat nav app. It wasn't designed to work like and that as far as i know there are no plans to do so, simply because the sat nav app makers themselves don't allow it.

CamerAlert runs in the background BEHIND your sat nav app and gives audio alerts. If you are not using a sat nav app at the time you can have a map shown by the CamerAlert app but it doesn't, in any way, integrate into ANY sat nav app.

Well if it can flash up warnings on top of the satnav app then why can't it overlay the speed cameras?

Putting warnings up on screen is a feature that the operating system provides for apps running in the background to give popups. These are in a set location and not based on what is on the screen at the time.

I suspect this is more a limitation imposed by the OS that an app can't
access data provided by a third party and not something done on purpose by the app developers (either the satnav or PGPSW).

Just to note, anyone with moderator or verifier status are unpaid volunteers who just try to help out where we can.
