Downloading now, will come back soon with whats in it.
Hmm, damned software told me during the install process that something had gone wrong and advised me to contact customer support. On Wednesday I'm travelling from North Wales to Inverness. 'Bloody hell' I thought, just typical, tells me there is a critical update just before a big journery and my satnav is crippled. Turns out I was fortunate and it hadn't made any changes. I still have a working unit running app 10.200.698576.
Phew
Anyone else successfully install this update on the 1000 range? |

Bit strange, tried a second time and all appeared to work well. All version is showing as 10.201.707296. Strange as it said 10.560 at the begining of the download process.
Cant really see anything that has changed. |

A couple of quotes from a certain wiki.
Reportedly the famous last words of artist James Holden, as he lay quivering on the floor, dying from a heroin overdose.
Spoken by Matt Covalt right before his plane crashed in the Amazon Rainforest
Didn't for them |

TomTom's software numbering system has gone mad... There are now two numbers quoted...
Here's a few recent versions that they have on their website list
Quote: | Version 10.200 (10.547)
(GO 1000 series and Via series)
Version 10.158
(Start 20 series)
Version 10.116 (10.558)
(GO 1000 series and Via series)
Version 10.115 (10.541)
(GO 1000 series, Via series)
Version 10.111 (10.495)
Version 10.110 (10.473)
(GO 1000 series, Via series)
Version 10.060
(Via Series) |
God knows why there are two numbers for SOME of them. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

My one offered a critical update for the PC software and then 10.560
As unit is in the car I can't be bothered.
Perhaps its time for a Wi-Fi enabled TomTom that when at home wakes up and downloads its own updates and maps (plus map corrections of course) - perhaps also you favourite music.
Assuming you park your car in the inside the wireless footprint of your home network.

Nice idea Hummer!
TBH though, that would be something else for TT to screw up!
Ive received this update also. Very strange numbering system indeed!
The TT website hasn't listed a change log about this update at present. I can't 'see' any differences but maybe it's background processes??

Could it be this then?
Quote: | Version 10.201
(GO 1000 series and Via series with serial numbers starting with FT, FU, FY, FW, FM, FN, FO, FP, TA, TB, SA)
Stability improvements in map and speed camera updates |

My understanding is that update you've posted was the previous one. May time I think. Helps with Map stability with the new 870 maps. Maybe wrong though.
I just wish TT would get off there arse and give clear and concise information on there website and not different version numbers etc.
Do they confuse us on purpose?? Not very impressed I have to say.
Another bug bear is how long they're taking with the itinerary planner update. How long do they need?? Surely they must appreciate that maybe a few people would be planning trips at this time of year!
If I could return my TT for a full refund I'd go back to my GO530. Latest and greatest isn't always best eh.
Anyway, rant over...... |

I hope I'm wrong, but I think you may be disappointed when it DOES arrive.
The recent update to the TomTom iPhone app which supposedly gives "Itinerary Planning" doesn't give us the functionality we have been used to on previous TomTom models.
All it gives is the ability to add FOUR "via" points on a normal "Navigate to..." (rather then the ONE we usually have.
There is speculation that this is all they are going to implement on the Go1xxx/2xxx and Via models.
If so..... then there will be no proper multi-stop itinerary and no loading and saving of itineraries (so no sharing of them either!)
As I say... I sincerely hope I'm wrong. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

The question has to be asked doesn't it..... This feature was very popular...why the hell did they decide not to implement it in the 1000 range? What on earth was their thinking?

Thanks for that update Andy. Didn't know that. It makes sense for TT to apply the same to pnd's. Not that it is right though!
Surely TT must know by now that customers have been alienated by forking out extra dough for a far inferior product (comparing to my old GO 530.)
I really hope you're wrong too!
Pete says it all really......................why? That's the ultimate question to so many things not right with the latest and greatest product.
Not sure TomTom have sufficiently answered that tbh.
Personally, I feel ripped off. Conned wouldn't be to hard a word. |

Hi Pete
I had the same problem today, MyTomTom said there was 24 new items to download turned out to be tomtom camera up dates
So i connected my 1005 to the pc and started downloading the up dates
Just after the download had finished it started downloading again but this
download was very short
it then told me it had finished and i could disconnect from the pc, so i turned
the tomtom off
The it come up with you have a problem with your device contact customer
Support
So i turned it back on but it world not connect to the pc and there was a Red
Cross on mytomtom
So i reset it and it , it seems to be working ok now
All the best |
