Gentlemen! Today is your lucky day if you have a 3750 or a 3760. I found a way to enable the Contacts, Calendar, 3D Terrain and Building like on the nuvi 3790. ASR appears and is functional on the 3760, but it does not work on the 3750 as there is no microphone installed. See the table below for the list of features that can be enabled for each GPS model per firmware region.

Use RGN_Tool v0.84 to enable those features.

1- Load your firmware in RGN_Tool (gupdate.gcd or a .rgn file)
2- Patch it using the Tools, Nuvi 3790 Patch.
3- Save the modified firmware (I recommend a .rgn)
4- Flash the new firmware using the procedure in the next post.

All previous rules apply before flashing firmware.

A few more information that you may need:

How to flash the GPS with a new firmware:

1- Drag the new firmware over updater.exe from Garmin
2- Select "USB Device" in the "Connection Settings"
3- Put your GPS 37xx in service/pre-boot mode. See the procedure below.
4- Once the GPS is detected, click OK in updater.exe to start the programming (maintain finger on screen)
5- Once the programming is finished, click OK in updater.exe.
6- Remove USB cable.

How to put your GPS in Service/pre-boot mode

1- Turn off the GPS completely. This requires to click and maintain the power switch for 10 seconds.
2- Turn on your GPS
3- Once you see the Garmin logo, put and maintain your finger above the "G" of Garmin.
4- When you see the scrolling "System" text top-right of your finger, connect the USB cable while maintaining your finger on the screen.
5- Continue to step 4 of the flashing procedure above (click the OK button in updater.exe). Make sure to maintain your finger on the screen while doing this.

Yes. There is not really a UK firmware. It is the same as the US firmware, but with a different Locale that you set on your GPS. So, yes, it will work. Follow the procedure with your firmware and you will have the same features as the ones specified in the "US" column.

I have ordered a microphone for my 3750. Once soldered, ASR should work for me as well. I'll report the part number and the procedure once I'm done.

Just a note of caution please make a full backup if your device before trying any of the above as then if something does go wrong you can atleast then reinstall the backup

Updater.exe can be found with a google "garmin updater.exe". I found this link:

http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=242

Download this file. You can run it or right click (unzip/unrar it) in a folder. You'll find the file updater.exe there. Dismiss the other file.

As for pre-boot mode, it differs sometime from one model to the other. Try this one:

1- No USB connected, click 10 seconds on the battery to enter the service mode.

2- drag your .rgn over updater.exe and select USB

3- Connect the USB

4- Once connected, click Update in updater.exe

About a backup: Not sure about that unless you plan to dump all regions. Just upgrading the logo, firmware or some other things will affect only the firmware and not the files saved in the different folders that you could backup with a USB cable. The most important thing before flashing is to ALWAYS use the original unmodified boot.bin you got on your GPS.

Thanks Turbo, I found that file too but wasn't sure if it was current.

My problem is that my nuvi is stuck on Map Loading ... corrupted map file I think. I just need to get my PC to recognise the nuvi so I can delete the corrupted file, is there an easy way to do that?

No way. You have to make a cure firmware and replace all .img by .igm, all .IMG by .IGM. Search for both regular string and unicode string. Save to .rgn and flash using pre-boot mode method. Once flashed, the gps will boot and USB will work. correct the file(s), then flash again with regular firmware.
