hurray!!! and not...

I have connection, monitored it with GPS view during a trip this afternoon - between 6 and 10 satellites - BUT SmartST doesn't connect with the GPS so no route indication

still it says in the GPS status window that it is connected to COM4 (the one I monitored)

My experience with the Navman SE sleeve (bought as part the Navman 3450 package) and an ipaq 3850 was this -

Get the current sleeve driver from Navman's support area on their web-site, install and soft-reset the ipaq. When I drop the ipaq into the Navman SE sleeve, I get a quick message that the sleeve has initialised. If you are getting a question about an unknown sleeve, then the driver hasn't been installed properly.

Again from the Navman site, downloaded the sleeve firmware update and flash the sleeve to version 2.3.7.

The sleeve was then working on COM5, 57600 baud. I set the TomTom 3.00 driver to use the NAVMAN GPS3000 device as a GPS Receiver on COM5. With this, I get a fix from cold in a few minutes.

Also, download from this web-site GPS Info 1.3. This shows that my installed driver is Navman, active on COM5, 57600 baud and the Navman firmware is 2.3.7.

With GPS Info 1.3, I get a 3D fix from cold in a few minutes with 7 sats locked.

amcluesent,

I did all the upgrades, and have been running GPS View and GPS info 1 and 1.3 - the only problem now is a connecting problem with the software, the sleeve is receiving info from staellites, SmartST can't connect... I may try a friend's TomTom soft tomorrow - if that works, that's where i'll go

IT WORKS! :D So I guess I'll buy the TomTom package to go with it

TomTom found the satelites immediately, and I tried it out yesterday and it works fine, apart from a couple of "hic ups" due to major road works in my area, where it kept insisting I "turn left" and then "make a U turn and then turn right" when I kept going because the road it wanted me to take was closed, which made it freeze for a minute or two.

thx Tim for your patience & amcluesent for your input!

hi,
i have the same problems with a navman se(+ipaq 3970). i have the 2.3.7 rom upgrade installed but it says gps reciever not attached.
when i attach it the card is an unknown card, but if i go to the expansion packs listing page it is reconised as a navman gps with cf2?

what is happening??
if i look at the sleeve connector pins in the socket, is it normal that a few are set slightly lower than the others ?
does the sleeve require a cf card in it for the rom upgrade to work?

help !!!! Confused

plexi,

have you installed the latest driver from navman? look in this thread for link

install gps info or gps view, so you can determine whether its the sleeve or the GPSsoftware that is giving you problems - I found the sleeve was working ok, but SmartST won't work with it - TomTom works fine...
