I have had an issue with my TT 930 for about 2 years now where, when I connect it to the computer, Home automatically starts up but it cannot see the TT and in the bottom right corner of Home it just says No Device Connected. I can, however, see the TT in My Computer and can move files etc as normal. This is the case on 3 computers and various cables.

I have just had another exchange of emails with TT Support, where I have been told to try everything he could think of, which included formatting the device. Windows was unable to complete the format, so I did the format under Ubuntu which seemed to go OK, so I returned to Windows but again Windows was unable to complete the format. (Yes, I did take a full backup before I started!)

I am now told that TT want 105 euros (£92) to take a look at the 930. That seems a lot of money - all I want to do is join map update. Is there somewhere more reasonable I can send the TT to get it looked at?

Thanks

Several members have given good reports about this repair company. Would be worth a phone call.

Did TT Support take you through the steps shown on This Page?

You need the second option, then the second option again. Apparently you need a Folder called Home_Images and the files it contains.

Yes, I've updated the Home_Images folder.

GO 930 just needs a hard reset by the sound of it.

I have a different 'take' on the situation....

It sounds to me (from the difficulty you had formatting it) that the internal memory may well be on it's way out.
TomTom's of a similar age to the 930 are quite prone to memory chip failure, and this can produce some very strange effects prior to it completely dying.

Buy yourself a decent quality, fast, SD card (NOT SDHC).
Back up the internal memory contents to the PC and then move everything from the internal memory (or preferably an earlier backup) onto the SD card, and see if things improve.

If you need any help doing the move, just ask.

Why would you say SD card for a 930 Andy? Should it not be SDHC?

The 930 running the latest Navcore (8,351) is good to use SDHC cards up to and including 32GB in capacity, a 4GB is enough for just maps, larger if you want to add mp3 tracks, get a class 6 speed card though - Mike

"My bad..." (as the young folks say) I should know full-well that it's OK - I've got an 8GB SDHC in my Go720!

Just put it down to a senior moment... sorry. Embarassed
