Is it possble to create your own route and have it stored for use in a few months? I have created and loaded onto my map a numer of POIs (20) that pin point specific road positions. It is possible to use these POIs to create a specific route and have it stored on the TomTom? So, having created the route, when I go to France in the summer I can access my route and the TomTom will guide me along it?

That depends on your model and if it has the Itinerary function. If it has itineraries, you can plan and save a future route.

If you can save Itineraries ( ITN files) then TYRE is a good program to use, it allows you to plane the route in a google earth type interface then you can upload it to your tomtom through windows explorer.

You should have a file named ITN in your tomtom files directory just upload the itn created by TYRE into this file then you can load it from the Itinerary icon on the tomtom menus

I have a Go520 running navcore 9 and it has a feature called Prepare Route - is this the same thing? I have played with it but it does not appear to have the facility to save a route - or the complexity to alter a route. If this is the same as Itinerary I will have a look at Tyre and try and find out how it all works.[/b]

They are not the same thing. Prepare Route is a means whereby you can have a look at a Route that doesn't necessarily start from your current location.

Itinerary planning is usually found on Page 3 of the Main Menu. If it isn't there, you may need to go into Change preferences and select Show ALL menu options. Page 3 of 3 I think.

I've just found it - menu page 3 of 4. Thank you for your help - I will see what I can do.

Hi Quar+krad
I use the Itinerary option on a regular basis. All my past journeys on the continent have been planned using Tyre and stored in my Itinerary. Its brilliant. You follow the route that you wish to go and not the one that Tomtom wants you to go.

I have had Tyre on my PC for sometime but never really had need to use it.

I am now trying to store the route of a treasure hunt using Tyre to transfer it to my TT, it seems very good so far unless I end up with too many way points in the middle of nowhere.

I guess if I cant use less of them the route will have to be planned in separate stages.

Completely sorted - many thanks to you all for bringing Tyre to my attention - one of those rare bits of software that does exactly what you want. Route planned and installed!
