Well EPT worked just fine, the indicator came up like normal!

So is the unit you are running this Navcore on a 950?

Also did you have any SIM card error messages when you initially installed it that you were then able to overcome?

The unit is a Go950 Live and I haven't had any error messages of any sort. I just copied the files over the previous navcore I was using which was 9.026.

Everything just worked and worked well unlike 9.058 which I tried for a while but gave up on. I must say I was surprised that EPT worked as I was sure I just wouldn't get the symbol on the screen and probably a loss of GPS signal message. Glad I did the 30 mile detour to find a tunnel!

On my 940 this does not work and brings back the SIM 1008 error. Reverting to 9.058 and all is back to how it was.

I did not install the newer bootloader that comes with 9.120.

Do you mean you didn't load the "system" file. Neither did i.

I did not load the system file as if you need to revert, it is a messy procedure and this is the one file that could brick the device.

Loaded this new Navcore to my GO 950, and it appears to work fine. HD traffic loads fine. Will test tomorrow at work properly!

Custom POI icons now have a black border on them!

First difference noticed!

Noticed this on the 740 too. Makes them even more messy with the v underneath...

Can nobody get this Navcore to work on an x40 series model in terms of HD Traffic capability? If so it merely looks like an upgraded version of Navcore 9.054

You need to use the right type of icons: recent navcores seems to be more picky on the icons they accept.

The correct format is 22x22 (44x44 for _X2) with a 24 bits colour depth

I am aware of this requirement. But these POI icons were fine (ie Did not have the black border) when running 9.058. Just updating to 9.120 seems to have instigated this small change.

No big deal for me, just an observation.

Will be trying out the new Navcore properly tonight for my driving job.

I've just installed 9.120 onto an SDHC in a 550 and all seems well. Boot time was longer but I'm putting that down to the 'Class 0' card. No reset necessary and GPS lock / HD Traffic both up and running within 2 minutes. I'll use it on a run tomorrow

I finally threw caution to the wind and updated the 750 here to this new Navcore (9.120) by updating the internal Go memory including the bootloader. As far as I can see I should still be able to reverse out to 9.058 if I need to via Manage My Go and by then removing the application as this surely ought to cause 9.058 to be offered once more by Home?

In any case it seemed to behave a bit oddly initially in terms of HD Traffic initially as it would only seem to log on to the traffic servers and show the blue bar and number of incidents initially if a route was set on the unit. If no route was set it didn't log on to the traffic servers. However after a Soft Reboot or two by holding down the On/Off key for 15 seconds it behaves as normal and brings up the blue bar and then the number of incidents every time regardless of whether or not a route is set.

The only discernible change in functionality is that "Switch to 3D view when following route" under 2D/3D Preferences is now actioned as instructed even if you are in 2D mode when selecting "Navigate To". However "Clear Route still annoyingly reverts you to 2D mode as before.

However log on times to HD Traffic seem even faster than under 9.058 with the blue Traffic bar now appearing in 10 seconds from entering the four digit PIN number and the number of incidents being reported 1 minute exactly after that or 1 minute and 10 seconds from entering the PIN number.

However going to "Status & Information" and then "Version Information" reveals some odd comparisons with v 9.058 still running over on my 940

Although it is App 9.120.522640.999 compared to 9.058.568435.1 on the 940 the OS is 515773 compared to a much high numbered OS of 541764 on my 940 still running 9.058. Also shown in brackets is an app date of 23/4/2010 prefixed by 3016 compared to an app date of 25/8/2010 prefixed by 1030 in brackets on my 940. However the Boot version on the 750 with App 9.120 is now shown as 5.5269 and this is considerably higher numbered Boot 5.5120 shown on the 940 running Navcore 9.058 However free memory on the 750 with Navcore 9.120 is shown as 8.7MB out of 64MB compared to free memory of 10.0MB out of 64MB on the 940 with Navcore 9.058 So this suggests Navcore 9.120 is a larger and more complex Navcore despite having an earlier production date but a higher Navcore number. Of course in reality I suspect these dates are the dates when the Navcore was signed off for final use rather than the date on which work on that Navcore first began.

Anyhow so far so good with 9.120 on the 750 as HD Traffic logon is faster than with 9.058 and "Switch to 3D View When Following Route" actually works. I suppose nobody has yet had any luck with getting HD Traffic with this Navcore on an x40 series model so far?
