reasoning there is no general forum I can find!

I have a TTXL as our main sat nav and it does the job admirably, but have been wanting a second unit for our second car. It doesn't need all the bells and whistles of the TT, ie I'm looking for something cheap.

So being on Fleebay I saw a chinese thing called a Sirf Atlas 5(actually loads of em!) brand new for £50 covering the UK and all of Europe!

But that is it, apart from a 3 minute video of a bloke driving around 3 streets to demonstrate it there is no other info available. It looks ok as a basic unit but there is no mention of map updates or even how old its mapping is. It supports POI's but no info where to get updates and the biggy, no mention of how good the navigation is ie down to postcode level.

So does anyone know a bit about them, or should I not touch with a bargepole?

Don't know anything about the unit but Halfords have a Navman for £59. Cover UK, ROI and Europe.

It's probably similar to the F&H units sold by Euyer. If so, it probably has TurboDog based nav software which, although it will get you from A to B, it is not very good. It is likely that the unit's filing system is readily accessible by USB, so other (better) software could be loaded.
