Just been reading the views of the people on here, I have the 1000 , its a good device , but its in need of updates that is for sure.
I spoke to one of the tech guys when they were in Stoke on Trent a couple of weeks ago, and some of his answers were not helpful,
He said the speedcams are updated over the air which is worng, asked hm why they dont use pgsw, he said Road angel updates are a lot quicker, I said this was rubbish.
On their facebook page, they were asking for people to record their voices for the new voice of tomtom, who won it , a voice over person. A lot of people have been asking the same question when are the updates coming, they choose to ignore this and instead go on about the new voice of TomTom, I said its all very well but when will 1000 owners be able to have this, it still is unanswered. |

Yes it is said that most businesses still believe it is okay not to answer consumers reasonable questions about their product or service, however good or bad it may be
Of course they will also learn they have to, if they wish to survive, because even if the news isn't always what you want to hear, just some information is better than nothing
However, even when some companies announce or promise something and give timescales, some people just ridicule them, so I guess we all may be the ones who have made them silent in the first place! _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I've found their Customer Services bods to have the same philosophy - answer the easy questions eventually & totally ignore the difficult ones!! |

So the problem of customer support service not responding is due to customers seeking support. Maybe it would be better if customers didn't seek customer support, then TT wouldn't have to remain silent? _________________ Dennis

As anyone got a map update waiting for them, mytomtom tells me tonight I have version 860.3103 at 296MB waiting for download, for obvious reasons I don't want to be the first to try this.
Had my Go Live 1000 for three weeks and I quite rate it, love the HD traffic which is the first time I've had this but I do agree that the software interface is very much work in progress and I also miss my weekly speed camera updates from this site. |

UPDATE: There's a report on the YourTomTom forum of someone having got the new maps on a Go1005
Quote: | The maps took 4 hours to download, and another 90 minutes to install on the 1005. A tad long time I feel. The maps are well over 3 gig.... |
So have another look at that download size that Home reported, it wasn't 2960, was it? |

He could try it and see what happens. BUT FIRST he should take a complete backup so that he can restore it if anything goes wrong. _________________ Dennis

I had a msg from Mr. TomTom although I like to call him by his first name as a mark of respect telling me " The following answers have recently been updated:
Updated Answers." About Speed cams.
BUT... I have managed to lose my charger USB just when I was about to get all excited at this new download and car is in for service so I hope it has fallen under a seat or something.
When I go into Tomtom now it says...
Connect your navigation device to install new items.
Downloads are waiting for installation.
Updates available for your navigation device
.Start downloading.
Europe (more info) 3163.2 MB
Item Size
...which I cannot do as Plonker has lost the lead.
I going to have to phone the Samaritans. |

Just updated mine, thou it does take a lot longer , 1hour to download the map on a 16 meg connection, and 49 mins to install the Euro map.
Thats all it offered me, so least its a start. |
