Have lost the ability to upload sound files with Ash10. When Ash10 updated the database to-day and I updated thrugh POi loader no sounds just bongs. I have been using this process for over a year since PaulB2005 helped me after I purchased this Garmin 765t. If I use speed zoned sounds with pgps and upload with poi loader it works ok but sounds are to far in advance. Have tried a number of combinations to no avail. With Ash10 I use the garmin speed zoned version of the pgps database for poi loader and the garmin_male_speedzoned_ash10.zip sound files.
Any ideas anyone.

Moved the Garmin PND Forum

Have you changed any settings in Camera Manager?

After Ash10 updated I uploaded via poi loader a number of times without getting the sound to work. I then deleted all files from the folder and got Ash10 to download the database again and then extracted the same sound files I had used before to the same folder. Still the same outcome.

PaulB2005
If you look at this PaulB2005 I would add that since last post have found your instructions for this from 9,4,2009 that you gave me and gone through the complete process. I downloaded and used liz voices ash10 version. Everything is as you instructed except the mp3 files are all listed together after the speed camera files and not in groups of three as below.
.GPX
.BMP
.mp3

The warnings are in the correct places but only with bongs.

They don't have to appear together in 3s on screen but they must occur in the list in threes. In other words for each GPX file there should be a matching BMP and MP3 file. If you don't have this then something has changed.

The names must match exactly.

PaulB2005

Do you consider the following as the same as I have my doubts . These are copy's of the files in the folder I use to upload.

PocketGPS_UK_Gatso_Fifty.mp3
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty.gpx
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty.bmp

The mp3 file is extracted directly from garmin_liz_w_speedzoned_ash10.zip downloaded from PGPS to the folder I upload from.

Thanks

No they are not the same. The BMP and GPX have SC in the filename and the mp3 has UK. Hence the voice alerts are not working.

What settings are you using in the Camera Manager?

I haven't used CM in some time so it'll be a couple of days before I can have a look at the program and the files it outputs. You need to get to a point where the BMP and GPX files match the voice files EXACTLY.

I can't remember which settings match the voice pack you have downloaded.

SC in the filename is the latest version to have.
The latest Ash10 generates filenames in this style, nowadays.
Mine are like this.

Just edit the .mp3 filenames, to replace UK with SC, and you should be fine.
(If you're really cautious, you could save a backup copy of the .mp3 files first of all).

Dales.

dales

Thanks for that dales. I came on to post to-day that I had solved it by going back to As10 version 2.7 . You have explained to me wye this happens and thank you. If you know what advantage version 3 is perhaps you could advise.

The advantages of Ash10 version 3 are explained in the sticky, page 55.

The two main features are (a) the ability to load multinational cameras without worrying about kph or mph, and
(b) the voice alerts can now be directional - telling you which way the cameras are liable to be targetting.

I think the (optional) directional alerts are great, but they do make it quite a bit more tricky to get it all up and running.

dales,
Further to your last post thought I would have another go with version 3. Changed the mp3 names to SC from UK. Ended up with 237 files in my upload folder which is I presume the extra files for the directions etc.. Uploaded and back to bongs again.

Because none of these

PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_E.bmp
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_E.gpx
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_N.bmp
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_N.gpx
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_S.bmp
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_S.gpx
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_W.bmp
PocketGPS_SC_Gatso_Fifty_W.gpx

have the relevant mp3 file present....

Ash10s Camera Manager help page is here

Halfway down it mentions

Quote:
You can download some suitable voice warnings from here.

Download the file, unzip it to a new folder and read the instructions in the ReadMe.txt file. It'll show you how to make all the voice files in a few seconds. Once generated copy the voice files to your Garmin upload folder.
