Except, of course, it does.

Just plug our preprogrammed cards — available on both SD or micro SD data cards — into your GPS and go.

You need the maps in MicroSD Card. Then just put it in the side of the unit.

Oh Embarassed is it that easy. Question I wondered if I had to 'find' /manual search a different satellite when I got there; which seemed difficult

No. It'll sort itself out. Note that it might take a few minutes to get a lock especially after crossing the Atlantic. Make sure it has a good view of the sky and power. Give it a few minutes and it should be fine.

I'm not sure but you might have to tell the unit to switch to be map on the SD Card but apart from that it'll be easy.

Just thought. Does your unit use internal memory or is your software and current map on an SD Card already?

Hmmm not so sure it'll be that easy then. The unit software is on the Micro SD card too so if the one on that site is just the map you'll have no software to run.

At the minute I'm not sure how to proceed.

In fact, I do not think the unit software is on the SD card but is built into the unit itself, so to speak. Therefore the map alone on the SD card should work ok.

This is how my i3 works.

What happens if you remove the SD card and try to fire it up? Does the software complain about no maps, or does the software not run at all. This test should give you an idea obout what's on the SD card.

But mine didn't. I'm sure the software was on the card too.
