I placed mine on September 3. I would be patient as I got my Invoice 2 days ago and now a stream of delivery notifications!

Many thanks.
I have just recieved a reply from my email to Navigon with a tracking number. Just tracked it on UPS and it should be delivered today - it's a pity I am at work today and there will not be anyone at home to sign for it!
Typical.

Ordered on the 3rd as well sounds like your sorted. I have been getting email confirming my order every hour since 12 midnight so maybe better off not having the email confirmation Smile

I thought at first I was a winner and they had sent out two PND's by mistake but all the emails so far have the same shipping number so just a problem with the automated email system there end.

Hmm
Seems i may have to wait for my new toy.
They are saying none in stock - contrary to the inference given on the web page.

Whilst they may be polite, CS don't really seem to know much.

I want to replace my current Tomtom but the negative reviews of the new TT 1000 on PGPSW have got me looking elsewhere.

The Navigon 70 Premium seems to have a great spec but I noticed that What Car in September only gave it 3 out 5 stars and commented ‘Its menu system is clunky….’ (The Garmin Nuvi 3790T was their Best Buy). Is the menu system much more difficult to use than TT or Garmins?

Has anyone moved from a recent Tomtom unit to a Navigon 70 Premium and/or know of link to a comparison?

Also, how good is the live traffic compared to say TMC?

Any chance of posting/linking the What Car review davewave1? I've tried 'Navigon' and just get a 2008 review of an old model. Unfortunately I don't think many people here have got to grips with the new models yet (I'm expecting my Live one tomorrow). So it's difficult to guess where WC are coming from, although I am always unsure about the absolute independence of reviews - even in 'Which?', manufacturer reviews can be a reflection of which models were actually selected to test, and when they were actually obtained (and they at least buy the units anonumously). The PGPSW (and other) forums are a much better guide, where available.

But the standard menu features are broadly the same as on the existing units, so I would hazard the view hat the menu system IS a bit more complex than the Garmin/TomTom, but I wouldn't describe it as 'clunky'. I would make the following comments:

- standard navigation features are pretty intuitive to use;

- you can get to some 'advanced'options via several alternative screens and it CAN sometimes be a bit tortuous. But to an extent this is a reflection of the spec, which as you say is pretty comprehensive and very flexible;

- voice control gets you to a lot of functions cutting out menu navigation to a large extent, making life quite a lot easier (and safer!) but you do have to practise it to find out it's 'power' - one of several examples of where I think Navigon's user guide can let users down by not explaining clearly WHAT options you can use, but just providing an introductory paragraph and leaving you to find out the precise details yourself;

- people always have examples of strange routing, and Navigon is not perfect either. BUT it's generally very reliable and sensible, especially with the MyRoutes function offering a choice of routes to a destination. I personally left Garmin because of some very bizarre routing experiences, and I read on here that there are still issues several years on. I can't speak to TomTom though as I've never used them, but I know a number of people are quite happy with them, but now of course you've got the 3rd-party prohibition POI issue with the new models.

As always, it's a subjective thing depending on individual needs/likes, but you might like to have a look through the 70 User Manual on their website to get a bit more of a feel.

Hope that helps a bit, anyway!

davewave1 the Navigon menu system is the most complicated of the main brands, but remains quite simple to use, although sometimes you need to "drill-down" a little more than in a Garmin or Navman unit - but with that comes a little more choice

The menu system is certainly not clunky although I see why its brought up as a negative, for some anyhow

Route choice is pretty good, better than Garmin or TomTom, but not quite there with Navman in my experience - although the MyRoutes is excellent as is the road avoidance choices

My biggest annoyance with the Navigon offering to date has been 1) zoom out level is far to distant even on roundabouts you often have to rely on the icon not the map and 2) sat pick-up is a little slow off the ground. Neither deal-breakers but need to do better, especially considering they do so well in pretty much every other area

On that note, I've seen some screen pics of the new unit with much better zoom detail (a bit like the level they auto-zoom to in the citys with 3D mapping) - is this now a choice?

Anyone of you lucky people with the new units care to answer?

Well if I was lucky enough to get a unit for every delivery email I have had today then I'm sure I have plenty to go around and I would share them at a very reasonable price ;)

I currenty have the Tom Tom 750 and the Navigon software on my iPhone I would say the Tom Tom interface it very intuitive and can be picked up and used without any manual. From the use I have had with the Navigon iPhone app (still waiting for delivery of the pnd) I would say it is less intuitive and may need a bit of clarification on how to do certain things but I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to it an example is the non qwerty keyboard but again I know there are tweaks out there to solve these things. However I feel the actual software features like my routes actually out weight this learning curve.

Thanks for all the prompt updates. I tried to find the online user guide on the Navigon site but it's still proving elusive; any links please?

Here is the link to the WC article - What Car Satnav 2010
