You didn't tell us abot the map version you have on your device (and the navcore version you have).
The map version can make a big difference since the IQ data are constantly improved.
Using my TT 950 with latest 850 Europe map I get (calculating at rush hour, faster route) 36.3 miles and 1:04 hrs as the best route via A281, A31 and A331.
Only asking for an alternative it gives the route via M25 at 1:08 hrs
It may be you have an old map and/or the time on your device is not right.
Last option is that your unit (or map) is faulty.

Must say I haven't experienced any "blacked out" areas on my 750 LIVE.
Regarding the point about non use of B roads, I haven't had my 750 long but I have had 2 great experiences of it using straight B roads. I was returning to Cheshire from Flamborough Head in East Yorkshire last Sunday and I was routed along this amazing B road which I was able to drive on at speed due to virtually nil traffic. I don't think I would have picked out this route myself so I was well pleased. I hope it continues!
I wonder if the unit is duff and should be returned as faulty.

I get the same route as Anita on my Go 720, with departure time set at 7.40am. My old TomTom One gives the 55 mile version via the M25 (but the One doesn't have IQ routes). If I click on Avoid Motorways it also gives the more direct 36 mile route

Knowing the first route I would say you would need a completely clear route to do it in under an hour. Even 1:08 through Guildford during rush seems optimistic.
Yes, that because that isn't the best route. I specifically pointed that out in one of my earlier posts. Even when I ignore the M25 steer, and the TomTom starts routing almost correctly, it still tries to route me through Guildford centre !!!!! rather than cutting the corner and going through Compton instead.
My route is about 32 miles and I regularly do it in just under 60 minutes without excessive speeding.
The TomTom doesn't come close to getting the best route - it makes a series of mistakes which would be a disaster at rush hour. I doubt you could even do M25 jn 7 to jn 12 in an hour on most rush hour days, let alone the whole journey.
However, in it's defence, I have just travelled from Frimley to a hotel in Malvern and the TomTom got the route spot on.

To acheive the TomTom estiamted journey time of 1 hour you would have to do that stretch of the M25 in 30 minutes or less.
That's the basis of my gripe about the routing.
(i) Firstly that it will direct you on a 20 mile diversion just to save a couple of minutes (by its calculation)
(ii) It's understanding of what average speed is acheivable over that section of the M25 are fanciful, even with IQ Routes.
