Hi,

I have googled etc, but can't find the answer. I have also emailed Navman/Mio support, and no reply. Have even spent half an hour in their call queue, before I decided that my blood pressure was getting too high.

So, the question is this... I have a Navman UK & Ireland F20, which I like, but now I need France maps for it, as we're going there on holiday. I have seen the Western Europe maps on SD cards available from legitimate retailers (ActiveGPS, Navman themselves) for up to £50. If I buy one of these cards, do I *also* need to buy a 'map unlock code', or 'activation key', or should I just be able to pop the SD card into the device without doing anything else?

Thanks in advance.

Kieran

My understanding is that the Maps on the SD card are locked to the SD card serial number, so no unlock codes are needed, just stick in in and go. It is entirely possible that once the SD is inserted into a device, it is locked to that device (preventing you giving the card to someone else to use in their Navman while he's on holiday).

However, I suggest you ask the qustion of the retialer you are buying from, and get the answer in writing.

Have you seen my price list for answering questions.....

1) Answer to a question 1
2) Correct answer to a question 10
3) Correct answer to the right question 100
4) Help formulating the right question 1000.

Based on your question and my answer, that one cost you 1 quid Very Happy

Have you ever tried to get a sensible verbal answer from Halfords, let alone getting it in writing Question Shocked

Thanks for the replies, as it gives me confidence to buy one of the SD cards without getting 'conned' into any additional necessary purchases!

Ask a retailer? Noooooo, much prefer to ask on dedicated forums, as you generally get responses from people who have a genuine interest/knowledge in the subject matter Smile

Once again, thanks!
