Hi there not posted in a while. I have just gone from a Navman F20 to a TT Go 730.

When using the TT with my mobile (LG Viewty KU990i) I cannot download the phone book and it will not read text messages, nor will it allow me to connect to any data services.

However when I connect it to my old Sony Ericsson phone (can't remember model, it's an old slider Walkman one) the full functionality works fine.

Are these features only compatible with certain phones? The software version in the TT is 8.351 if that makes any difference.

Thanks - Dan

Yes. The TomTom website has compatibility information, and according to the details for the KU990 here the most you can get with any TT device is hands-free calling and TT services, no send or receive texts and no copy phone book. Sad

One of the reasons I stick with an SE phone is that it's the most reliable brand for full functionality.

Pop your sim back into your SE, pair and copy the phonebook to the 730, then put the sim back into the LG and you can use the copied phonebook.

Nice idea!
(Obviously you'd need to copy your contacts to the SIM card first Wink We've just been through all this with our daughter who's phone died and she HADN'T copied her contacts to the sim card.)

Thanks for the ideas guys. Think maybe I might go back to Sony Ericsson soon then as I like the idea of having text messages read and being able to reply by voice.

I swapped to SE specifically because they seemed to be the most compatible with the TomTom.

Be careful if you "upgrade" your TomTom then. I heard that feature may be dropped in future models. TT said no-one ever used it Evil or Very Mad

Do you mean write a text by voice? I don't think I've ever been able to do that!

Well I used it and it was very good. Sadly, I lost it when I "upgraded" my phone which wouldn't do text on the TT. Interestingly she used to convert :-) by saying "smileyface". Sometimes numbers were spoken as time (can't remember now, maybe 4:00 or was it £4.00 spoken as four o clock?) Very Happy

What makes TT think no one uses it? Evil or Very Mad

I find it invaluable to have incoming texts read when driving. I can't say I've ever tried sending a text via the 720 though.

I'm beginning to hope I expire before my 720 does, as I don't think I'd be happy with any of the later models that I can afford.
