Hi hope someone can help me or guide me in the right direction. Just got HTC Desire Andriod phone which has sat nav using google maps.

Q1 Am I able to add speed camera poi on this and if so how.
Q2 Is there andriod software that will allow lane guidance

The ideal solution would be software to allow speed camera poi with lane guidance. I am impressed with the smooth display of software supplied.

I thank you in advance.

Ian

No, Google's nav app does not support custom POIs

Yes, in order of preference, Sygic, Navigon, CoPilot

Then Sygic.

Q1 see above
Q2 I'm using an HTC Legend (android) and have installed CoPilot 8 Live from the Google Marketplace £27.58. It works well and your Desire has a larger screen + faster processor

Thank you all for the reply. At the moment i am testing the free trial for navigon. Its a pity you dont get a free trial with the others as it would have been good to see how they perform first before parting with money.

I see a dedicated section on the forum for Google Maps Navigation. Maybe (assuming I am right and there isn't one) it's time to set one up? I'd be happy to volunteer to help. I run three forums on my own magazine websites.

There isn't one as yet. If there is sufficient demand then we'll consider one but so far I haven't see evidence of any demand <yet>.

Fair enough. But I do wonder if people visit the site and not find anything relevant will simply go somewhere else? I may be the exception in asking on the forum (being an existing member).

Google Maps Navigation is only about a month old in the UK, but it's part of the reason that Android phones, especially the HTC Desire, are selling like hot cakes at the moment.

Anyway, I'm happy to help if needed Smile

It's chicken and egg, we have a smartphone forum and will be opening an Android area soon.

The forum already has too many sub-forums and people find this daunting and off-putting. We simply can't justify creating new areas until demand is indicated.
