Hi,
I have modified my Start using the listing provided by Kondor and it works a treat with the additional functionality. The ability to create and edit POI is great and I was wondering if there is a way to use lat/long for creating a POI.
I use OS maps to plan hillwalking routes and the start of the walk could be a layby. Using the OS map I can obtain the NGR and then convert to lat/long. Using this to create a layby POI would be very useful.
Thanks. |

Have a look at POIEdit which can be downloaded from Here as that lets you enter specific lat/ long and then save as an ov2 POI file - Mike |

I'm not sure what you can or can't do on the Start, but on my Go you can either go to Browse map / find / LatitudeLongitude (it's on page 2) then save that position as a POI,
Or you can "Navigate to.." a LatitudeLongitude, and then, again in Browse map, find "recent destination" and save that as a POI. |

Neither of these options are available in my 'modified' Start. I will give the POIEdit a go. Thanks for the replies. |

I just had a look through the (poor as usual) Start user manual on-line and there's ONE mention of Latitude/Longitude.
In the "Set units" preferences, it says:
Quote: | Tap this button to set the units used for the following measurements:
• Distance
• Time
• Latitude and longitude |
So at least it seems to understand the concept of coordinates (unless it's a typo!)
I wonder where it uses them!? |

Just wondering if anybody knows of a tomtom.mnu command for the TT Map Corrections icon.
I couldn't find anything listed so I tried the obvious - MENUITEM|TASK_MAP_CORRECTION|
but it didn't work. Any ideas?
Many thanks, Ali. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Neither MapShare or HelpMe can be called when using a custom menu, I think there might be a way to add MapShare to the shortcut menu so you can still use the feature but not too sure if this applies to all devices - Mike |

dhn - thanks for that. I hadn't thought about accessing it via a MapShare command. I shall have a fiddle around but it does not look promising.
mikealder - just as I had feared. Opentom.org says the same but I was hoping that the information was out of date and that a method had since been found. You are correct in that I can mark a location from the Short Cut icon, but it is not possible to then review/edit it later. The "grey rose" in Map View also offers a way to create a Map Correction but, again, no way to edit/review one created via the Short Cut icon.
I was hoping to continue to use Andy_P's method 3b) for recording camera positions
Many thanks, Ali. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

There was a third party application written that let you toggle between standard and custom menu modes but each time you switched it between modes it reset the device, no idea if this would still work on Navcore 8/ 9 etc - Mike |

There's a coincidence. For months I've had a bookmark called "VERY useful application (maybe)" and every couple of months I'd look at it and have to visit it because I'd completely forgotten what it was for.
Only a couple of days ago I finally renamed it and filed it away properly (so of course I couldn't find it!)
I think this is it:

dhn - I tried the different MapShare options I could think of but nothing changed, so shall probably put this on the back-burner for now.
mikealder - thanks for the advice. I started to do some trawling through the Net but without a specific name did not have any luck.
Andy_P. Bingo! Although I probably couldn't use it for CamSpotting (way too many key strokes) I shall probably load it up as it looks like it could be useful especially for answering some forum questions. I shall not try it this weekend though as my family are getting so fed up with me at the moment:- TomTom this, SpeedCameras that, etc.etc.
Big thanks to All, Ali.
Edit - Andy_P, I've just checked your TT 3rd Party Sticky Post, and it is there - Doh! Reported not to work with v8 - Nuts! Mmmm! (Acknoledgement-Homer Simpson, circa 2004) _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

I did this and the speed icons show up as well as the speed cams but the audio is still just a bleep sound, even though the setup was all ok..? |

Which setup method did you use?
If ou put the audio files in the map folder with the other camera files, try the other method where you put them in a "sounds" folder instead.
See "Method 2" on THIS PAGE.
I don't know if it works on a Start, but it's worth a try. |
