Thanks - POI's all done.

What about the voices for speedcams (like in tomtom) that you can have, as against the beeps and whistles

Thanks

That one is the easiest so far as there is no conversion required. Just use the TomTom OGG files from here and copy them into res\sounds on your storage card (or phone if you copied everything to that).

Sorry have another question after using.

Have put the converted speed cam pois in to the map folder and the warnings come up but they show as grey "?" do i also need to copy the bmp file over and if so does that go in the same folder too?

Many thanks

Paul

Just seen this http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=69303&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 and have put the icons in the icon folder - doh simple.

Yes the bmp files should be copied into res/icons and should have the same name as the UPI file.
The other gotcha is the bmp file should be either 8bit or 32bit. Most art programs default to 24bit.

Have used now a few times - but find Mcguider is very stop start navigating and struggles with signal - where as tomtom has fluid movement and no probs with signal?

Any ideas. Im using hp ipaq 3970 with 1gb sd card on ver 4 rom and os 2003. The gps is the tomtom wired but also have a bluetooth gps.

Thanks

Not sure on that one i'm afraid, but make sure you update with McGuider Assistant as a newer version was released recently (I think it was today but can't remember when I last checked).

Well done scarymonkey on the work you have done so far - the Installation Guide was very useful. I had a problem with the .bat file - sygic converter error message to say that it "Could not open input file".
Did the conversion manually. Any clues? Would like to get sorted before next pgps update.
Cheers

Which batch file are you using? I now have a single file which will convert all .txt files it finds in a directory regardless of their name. One thing to check is that you have no spaces in the path names as this can cause problems with scripts sometimes.
Also if you are using Windows 7 I have found you can get errors sometimes and need to run the script 2 or 3 times.

It was the one you posted in the thread - convert.bat at 1MB. File names are exactly as downloaded from pgps, and the folder doesn't have any spaces in it. Oh, and my sygic converter was also downloaded from this thread. Odd. How can I edit your .bat file?
Cheers

The batch file is just a plain text file so can be edited in notepad. There is a line in the file (echo off) which you can remove. This stops the actual command that is run being displayed on the screen. You should see the full path displayed with the file names relevant to the file you are converting - I would post some samples but the forum thinks I am submitting HTML so it won't let me.

The convert.bat one is the correct one as this parses all txt files in the folder. I've just tested it again and it only failed with the error you gave when I had a space in the path.

If you want I can talk you through it over the phone, just PM your number and i'll call you this afternoon (or evening if it helps you).

edit as I forgot to say convert.bat should be less than 1KB - its actually only about 350bytes in total.

Hey scary, thanks for everything. I have had a look at it in Notepad, and I am pretty sure I know what my problem is - my folder on the PC is under a sub folder of My Documents. When I get chance I will have a play with it and see what I can do.
Cheers, and thanks for all your help.

No problem. That space in 'My Documents' will be the cause of the problem you have as there is no checking or handling of spaces in the batch file. Scripting isn't my cup of tea so I have not done any more to the script to handle the space - or really know where to look to fix initially.

I decided to play about with the icons last night and have created my own 36x36 pixel images at 32bit.
Whilst the preview image below looks a bit rough around the edges, they look great on the device itself (mine being a Nexus One).

Download the set here.
