On two previous occasions I have submitted a request for removal of REDLIGHT:58679@60 and REDLIGHT:34500@60, the requests have been shown on the submission page for a couple of months waiting verification, then removed with no action taken of the request
These are painted grey and located one on either side of a level crossing, they are obviously not traffic lights, the lights are alternating amber, they are safety cameras as fitted to all single barrier level crossing on the Fenchurch Street line which are monitored elswhere, enabling the controllers to see any vehicle or people on the crossing.
This is the only location which has cameras shown on the Data base.
While not the usual way of verifying they can be clearly seen on Google Earth, or if prefered I can take a photograph and send that to you.
The road on which they are located is named High Road, a Google error further south has it wrongly named as High Road, Woodford Green, which is miles away, maybe that is the reason.

I have re-checked the location this morning on leaving the adjacent motel and I can confirm that there is a Gatso camera covering each direction. As I said in the PM, they are linked to the red flashing lights and half-barriers for the Southend-London rail line, so are a little different to most Redlight cams, but I still believe they should be included as they are a 'points on licence' camera and as they are an unusual feature at this type of crossing in Essex, obviously are there for a very good reason.
For your decision as to Rejecting pREMOVE request. You might even like to consider changing them to a standard Gatso speed cam, but my feeling is that RedLight is the more appropriate category.
unfortunately i no longer have the PM that the verifier is referring to but from memory it basically said 'there are cameras there - i will check again in the morning'

Redlight cameras are not traffic lights as you seem to think from my interpretation of your post above. Redlight cameras are positioned near traffic lights to trap people who cross the junction against the adjacent traffic lights being set to red. They are usually painted grey, but sometimes painted yellow, especially if they are classified as RedSpeed (trapping redlight infringements AND speeding on green). I hope rayle is now convinced - if not yet, then my wife and I can put the matter beyond debate. Some years ago she went through a local crossing red-light (just changed from amber as she was on the line) and picked up the standard fine and points for the offence from a lurking policeman (hopefully he missed his train ) - there was no camera installed.
I checked the legal side as best I could and it was clear that these lights were covered by exactly the same legislation as traffic lights, as are temporary road-works lights.
So these cameras are not just 'like' red-light cameras - they are EXACTLY the same, and clearly belong in the database - well done PGPSW verifiers!
And the more of them that get installed, and recorded in the database, the better I'll be pleased! _________________ David
