I'm new to the GARMIN forum. I was a Co-Pilot user until recently. I recently got a Nuvi 765T. I was using MapSource to create some routes and I noticed that you can go in and edit the default speeds for different types of highways. I can't find that function on the 765T. Does changing those highway speeds in MapSource only effect the calculations of driving time in MapSource or does it transfer to the Nuvi when you import a new route? Is there a way to change the default highway speeds on the Nuvi? I tend to drive a little slower than their default speeds so the ETA is usually too optimistic for my arrival time.

Hi,

I do not believe that you can manually change the speeds for the highway types, however it appears that the Nuvi "learns" from your driving style and eventually the eta for a journey is modified to suit. I have seen some evidence of this with my own Nuvi 205 and there are articles on the web which seem to support the theory.

Check the following link for one example

Thanks for the info ... I read a lot about the unit before I bought it but save been finding new information almost every day. I'll keep a watch and see if the unit gets better at ETA.
