Hello All.

Has anyone encountered this problem - After downloading latest maps I am trying to back up my new device TomTom XL IQ Routes - about 1.73 gig - yet my computer steadfastly reports that I need 28 gig of space or so?

In fact TomTom backup (my last resort) suggests I need 24184.8 gig! There's clearly a phantom reading somehow of all this data. Ihave verified that the internal memory only holds 1.73 gig of data - yet despite reboots, I cannot make a back up because my computer continues to "think" that such an amount of space is needed - which it hasn't got free.

ANY IDEAS HOW TO WORKAROUND SO THAT IT READS NORMALLY AND CAN BE BACKED UP?

Many thanks.

Windows Explorer backup or TomTom Home backup?

You should be using Windows Explorer...

You misread me Paul.

I of course tried windows explorer back up - several tiimes across 2 different hard discs. I merely attempted the Home back-up to establish that there was no other way of making a back up.

In both cases, I get a report that I need a huge amount of gigabitage (is that a word?) to proceed. Which I clearly do not.

By backup do you mean something "odd"? We consider "Windows Explorer backup" as being a simple "Copy and Paste" from device to HD on your PC, which shouldn't need gobbles of Gigs to manage.

Sounds like one, or more, file(s) is incorrectly reporting it's size.

Try copying the Map Folder only, to see if that works.

If it still doesn't work, try copying the individual files from the Map Folder, till you find the one that won't play ball.

Yes, windows explorer backup, just a copy'n'paste.

Good idea that richard, I can try. If i do find a rogue file/folder what then though? I'll try it though.

Also tried on another computer, so it's def related to the sat nav.

Thanks Gents.
