Hi,

I've just bought a new 750 Live today to replace my old 720.

What is the current application version for these devices? According to the status page I currently have 9.001 OS 366544 which I think is out of date?

I've installed Home and it isn't offering me a new version of the software for my device (but it is offering me Safety camera updates).

Thanks.

Thanks Mike.

Is the software version tied to the map version?

I still have version 835.2448 maps on my device as I was waiting to update the application before doing the Latest Map Guarantee.

Perhaps I need to update my maps before getting a software update?

Thanks.

The order in which you need to do this is as follows:

1/ Windows Explorer backup to the PC (most important)
2/ Use Home to update the application to 9,025
3/ Use LMG to update the map to v840

There won't be another newer map released for around 60 days so you have nothing to lose in doing this now - Mike

Excellent, thanks.

Hopefully once I've updated my maps Home will offer me the newest application.

Update the application BEFORE you mess around with the map as per my previous post or is Home refusing to offer the newer 9,025 application? - Mike

Hi Mike,

Yes, Home is refusing to offer me the newer 9.025 application.

Are there any "tricks" to get it to offer me the update?

I'm wondering if it's a problem with my account. Up until yesterday I had a 720. When I connected my new 750 today it told me I could only have one device per account. As I have sold my 720, I told it to set my new 750 to be my device on my account.

I would have thought though that home would check the actual device rather than what device was tied to the account.

I've just tried installing Home on a different machine (so there are no traces of my old 720) and that doesn't offer me the update either.

Thanks.

You need to be using a unique e-mail address for each device, the actual e-mail address used doesn't need to be an active one in fact anything in the e-mail format for an address with work fine.

My750@blueyonder.co.uk will be fine as would bobmoss@snailmail.com even though neither address actually exist! - Mike

Thanks Mike.

I've already told it to link the device to my old account (as prompted by Home).

However, I'll try creating a new account and linking my device to that.

This is fine unless you wish to receive all the generous offers from TomTom such as the £8 voucher that can't be used for anything you would actually want to buy!

Right...

I've created a brand new account on TomTom.com.
Uninstalled Home completely (including all data folders etc.).
Re-installed Home.
Logged in with my new account details.
Plugged in my 750.
Home asked if I wanted to attach this device to my account - I said yes.
Home loaded up and offered my the Latest Map guarantee (whcih I declined).
It then went away and looked for updates.

Unfortunately, no software updates were listed, only the speed camera updates.

So, it's definitely not an account problem. Perhaps TomTom's update servers are down for Christmas???

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I've no explanation as to why it isn't offering you the software update, but so long as you're SURE you have a good backup, you could try this experiment:

Delete all the "loose files" off the unit (I.e. the ones that are NOT in any folders, leave the folders alone) and then try the update and see what Home puts on it.
