tomtom rider v2 car mount

does anyone know if the car mounts built in speaker will work without having to plug it into the car? i can only get it to work by plugging it into the car for power. i would have expected it to be powered from the tomtom itself.

yep thats how it works it says it in the instructions

Indeed it requires 12v power. It is designed to be plugged in and if it were used in the way you describe then the RIDER's battery would have a very short life.

Yes, I confirm it needs to be plugged into the car (to power the speaker and charge the unit), its a good unit which makes the Rider 2 very versatile.
And you dont get very far without power plugged in on the Rider, especially if your using a bluetooth device to hear it.

Hi

I get 3 hours out of my rider 2 on battery with BT, but not linked to my phone.

But as already stated you need the power for the speaker in the car mount.
