Hi,

Excellent site, always used as a reference for past purchases.

I've got an old Compaq IPaq H3130 which I'd like to use as a cheap GPS system (speed cameras, odd sat nav etc...).

Would like to buy:

1. A combined Bluetooth and Compact Flash jacket
2. DConnex Bluetooth GPS receiver
3. 256 MB Compact Flash

I've installed Tom Tom Nav 2 and this seems to have installed ok.

I've not got the rest of the hardware yet, so I can't test it.

Not bothered about it being mono, but worried the system RAM (16MB) may not cope with Tom Tom. I think it's running the same cpu as my Tosh E570, so this should be ok.

Anyway, would it work?

Cheers!

Is the 3130 the greyscale iPAQ? If so then this is not going to work as I'm fairly sure that model only had 16Mb RAM. The 3630 series has 32Mb which really is the absolute minimun to run a navigation application.

This is memory accessed by the system so should not be confused with memory in a stoarge card which will not resolve this limitation. If you're going to buy a BT/CF Jacket and BT GPS I'd forget the 3130 and look at getting a newer PDA Sad

Thanks for the reply, yes it is the 16MB model.

Oh well, nevermind. Worth a shot!

Shame really, could have been a good speed camera detector.

Cheers!
