I have had my Nuvi 660 for a couple of years and have always been pleased with it except for the slow screen updating. I sometimes miss turns because the update is too slow. I am thinking of upgrading to a newer unit but am sure not whether this is symptomic of most Garmin units. Has anyone else had this problem?

yup, this is a common problem.

I bought a 1490T in July, its redrawing was atrocious. Recently sent it back, because of another problem (unreliable finger-scrolling) and the replacement is better, in both respects, but still far from perfect.

Garmin today told me that slow redrawing is to be expected, because of "the amount of data".

Terrible excuse. A bit like a car manufacturer blaming the weight of the car for the car poor mileage or acceleration.... I always assumed Garmin tested their sat nav before releasing them to market....
