|

I have heard the latest version WCE 835 2419 does not fit on internal memory of Go 730 anyone know if this is true ???
Tomtom Customer Service are about as much use as a chocolate teapot when asking about this stuff.
And all links seem to point to dodgy stuff when googling. _________________ TTGO730

I have a TT720 rather than a 730 and I could NOT fit the lastest W&CE map onto my internal memory. I have therefore downloaded it to a 2GB SD card and use that in the TT.
Good luck. |

What you can do is a manual install of the downloaded map:
1/ Unzip the downloaded map to a known location on the PC
2/ Open the folder containing the extracted files
3/ Delete the cspeech_XYZ.dat files EXCEPT cspeech_GBR.dat
4/ Copy the folder to your TomTom
The above method means you won't have speech recognition working in anywhere other than the UK, if you don't use voice recognition at all then you can delete all the cspeech files including the GBR file, this would save you 217MB in storage capacity - Mike |

Try the download first and see if it works.
Do a full backup using Windows Explorer, then go for it. In some cases, the new 835 map has simply overwritten the old map without running up against the space problem. You never know, you could be lucky! _________________ Dennis

Why do Tomtom make memory so tight. Why not make the units with larger memory? Came across this with my cousins 730. |

I think the problem is actually the maps getting bigger that's the problem. I think that this latest map is the third map I have had on the 720 and each map is bigger than the last. Also, don't forget that the 720 (and 730 I think) was designed for the WE map, not the W&CE map. SD cards are so cheap nowadays that if you still want the speech files, it will onlt cost you a fiver to get a 2gb card, a few quid more for a 4gb card and have space for some music files as well.
Good luck. |

To answer the original question - yes they do. I have a 730 and the latest WCE maps.

We're faced with the same problem with the North_America_2gb maps. A complete hassle trying to get them to fit into internal storage. A 4-gig sdhc card was the only way to go for me. _________________ David |

Hi fluke9
I do not have the 730 but I do have the 720. I deleted the old map (I have no memory card) before installing the latest map and it installed with no trouble at all. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

I've got a 730T and downloaded the latest map a few days ago with no problems, although before the download started I got a message to say that the map would be compressed to 1.8mb due to space limitations! _________________ Regards

I've got a 730 and I did'nt have any trouble when I downloaded the last map update.
If I remember correctly I have got about 19mb of memory left available on my 730. _________________ Keith
