I was flashed by one of these Gatsos 9 days ago. As I approached the first one of the 2 on my side of the road, the car in front of me was flashed, so I slowed down to well under 40. At the second one I was sure that I was under the limit, but as I looked back at the camera in my mirror, I saw it flash..!! So I'm watching the post for the next few days.

Do these cameras still use film or are they all using hard drives?

I read on another forum that the cameras are normally set to 10 percent plus 2. So in this case 40+4+2=46mph. But that when the film is used up, the camera is set to flash at a lower speed, say 41 or 42 as a warning, is this true?

That speed limit calculation is widely used by many police forces and camera partnerships, but it's only a "recommendation" which some forces ignore, so don't risk it!

If the camera is a standard "big box" Gatso, I think they still all use film.
Also, I don't think they are clever enough to have a different limit for when the film runs out.

I was flashed by the first of two Gatsos on the North-bound carraigeway (near to Morrisons I think) yesterday morning at about 3am and I would put my house on the fact that I was going 38/39mph because I never trust these machines.

As I was in a company vehicle I've had to notify my fleet department and I've also e-mailed the Highways Agency to complain.

If the camera is faulty and flashes vehicles by mistake then a fine should be levied at the owners of these cameras for the stress caused to the drivers. If I speed and get caught then fair enough but I'm not having it when I'm flashed doing the speed limit (or less than). Evil or Very Mad
