|
|
I've recently upgraded from G0 510 to 540, as the 510 was getting a little long on the tooth.
I've transferred all my POIs OK (over 220), but all the associated 'phone numbers are now shown as +0121123456, etc, instead of +4421123456
Obviously these numbers are invalid.
Is there any simple way of fixing this? Otherwise I'll have to manually re-enter all these numbers! |

The only way I can think of... (still fairly laborious) would be to open the .ov2 POI file in POI Edit,
Re-save it in .csv format.
Open that in Excel
Use 'Find and Replace' in Excel to change the numbers
Save it again
Load it back into POIEdit and re-save as an .ov2 again. |

Thanks for the idea, Andy.
However, I couldn't get POIEdit to save the file in Excel format, (or any other format, come to that!), so I tried POIConverter.
That let me save the file as .xls, but the existing phone numbers were not included!
So I tried to edit the file in POIEdit.
I carefully changed all the numbers, swapping "+0" for "+44"
Tedious, but there you go, I thought!
Now, having reloaded the result into the 540, all the POI names have disappeared! Good job I kept a backup! |

You can then open this CSV File with Notepad and on the Edit Menu there is a Replace Option.
Save the result and then Open the file again with POIEdit and save as an OV2.
The Format of the POI is shown Here. _________________ Richard

Nope, still won't save it!
I get a message "Extension ".csv" does not match selected file type" |

OK, thaks to Oldboy, that's now sorted.
Next question: How can I set my Home location's 'phone number?
I just want to be able to tell Tomtom to "'phone home"! (Alright, "Call Home" actually!
Any ideas, anyone? (Apart from creating a specific POI named "Home") |

I've never used it myself, but I think this is the way.
Press the Mobile Phone Icon.
Select the Call.... Icon
Select the Home Icon
If the number has not already been allocated you have the opportunity to set it. _________________ Richard

The device has a limit of 169 custom POI categories so I would expect some strange behaviour from it with 220 loaded - Mike |

Yes indeed, all 220 in one category. |
