Hi there and thanks for looking.
I have just bought an incar entertaiment system from China. TBH it is really nice. It has DVD player, tuner and bluetooth.
One of the features is 'GPS' but I am not at all sure how to get GPS working. It says in the instuctions that it must be connected to a GPS device, does this mean a sat nav system? Or do I need GPS software on an SD card to make it work? and how would it be able to track satelites?
Please help if you can, any info would be greatly appreciated. I have searched the web for info, but nothing, so i came to the experts :-)
Thank you |

Welcome to the forum, is it a ChinaVasion device, if so read my second post in This Thread which details how to alter/ set up one of these units.
You will need the navigation software and maps on DVD, from what I have heard TomTom Navigator will crash if loaded to the unit (Not tried this myself though) Route 66 and McGuider both work fine on the device as I have tried them both - Mike |

Hi there and and I thank you very much for the info that you so kindly gave.
I have attached a photo of my unit, I don't know if it is a chinavision unit, as it doesn't say anywhere on the front.
As you will notice there is a 'GPS' button on the top right of the screen, although slightly hidden by the reflection.
When I press this, nothing happens, do you think that this is because there is no SD card with maps on in the unit? and do you think it might activate if I had?
Sorry but i really am a novice when it comes to GPS, especially this type. I have a normal 'Garmin c510' sat nav, which I can just about manage
Again thank you for your help.
Steve

Was it supplied with a GPS aerial, they are typically matchbox sized but thinner and go to a small coax style connector on the device? I guess it could have the GPS receiver built in to the deck but that is very unusual.
If you have the GPS aerial then loading an SD card with a GPS related application should get it working - Mike |

No I don't think I got an aeriel, so it must be inbuilt. I have downloaded McGuider 7.7, I think this is the latest version, not sure. I need to get a 2gig sd to put it on, and then I'll give it a try. Looking at the files in McGuider, all of the sounds are in Italian, so not sure if it the right one or not? I will get an SD card and see if it works.
When i get the card ready with the files on it, do I put it into the machine and install McGuider onto the device?
Thank you

Where did you download this from? if its not an official copy and fully paid for you won't get any further assistance on this forum - Pirate software is theft, unless you can prove this is legitimate then I am sorry but no further assistance (by the way McGuider CANNOT be downloaded for use) - Mike |

I went on to the McGuider websitehttp://www.mcguider.com/en/store.html
to buy it and the DVD had sold out, so I went to purchase the SD card with it installed already for 79 euros and it says 'Sorry we do not ship to your country'?
How can I get hold of a copy if they do not ship to the UK?
I have got rid of the download as I do not believe on theft either, sorry about that I was not aware that it was an illegal copy. |

I don't know if you have got it sorted yet, but there are two different types of these. Both have the gps button but the one I bought was not advertised as having gps so it is disabled. |
