hi all.i dont know if this is the right bit of the forum(point me in the right direction if not)ive now bought myself a bluetooth sat nav receiver.its a navicore and im having problems.first problem i had was the lack of a map on the rs mmc that came with it.there are two files on it,applications and poi.both folders are empty.i went to navicore web site and downloaded the uk/ireland map to desk top.i tried to put it on the chip as the installation cd said and it said...not enough memory...so i put it on a mini micro chip.it was an exe file.after this,i put the chip in my viewty and nothing happened.unsupported file error meassage came up when i pushed any button that i could.then i thought, try the rar file down load.da.da.got voice test,a few graffics/icons but no maps.as im very new to sat nav and very green with computers.......is there any-one that can help get me working....on the laptop or my viewty....i dont mind..any thing will make me happy.im easily pleased.will wait for reply rather than tell everything as this could turn into a novel....jim

hi.hi..yep,ive got a viewty, buy im having probs with software.as pointed out its a simbian OS chip supplied with the navicore and its got nothing in the folders when i loaded it into my laptop.i was hoping to separate the maps and get something to come up to load into the viewty.im not even sure there are any maps on the chip.i downloaded the maps from navicore but ive had so many headaches trying to get something to load without problems(laptop use or viewty)that im at a loss what to do next.ive even gone to the local phone shop to get advice and its left me even more confused.ive got a net bolt on from O2 so i can download unlimited but im not sure how i do it.jad.rar.exe....its all french to me.ive been told that there is one system that tells you where to go,one where your going and one ,where you are.some with voice guidance, some with subscription.aaaaaaaah.all i need is a free map system to tell me where to turn and where i am along an A-B journey on my viewty and possibly laptop, without being permanently connected to the net.the navicore is connecting via bluetooth to laptop/phone and detecting sats(blinking yellow).i like the navicore, its dinky and charges from my spare nokia charger.if i could only get it to link with some maps..any help????

Sorry I should have said Java not Palm, surely the Viewty runs Java apps and not Symbian, again not too sure or familiar with this phone, but surely the OS is on the phone not with Navicore.

hi all.thanks for the input,Ive given up any hopes of loading from the chip or any navicore web download as it is for symbian OS and not compatible with the viewty.its java enabled and that's the only thing i know about it, short of it being a phone that sends text and does a bit of Internet stuff.so I'm back to does any-one know of a mapping software that downloads to the viewty or is compatible for it on CD/DVD to load into it and log on and tell me which way i'm going when i put a post code or street name into it.voice command is a bonus but if its free,i could live without it.if i do have to pay then what the heck,i'm getting too frustrated trying to get amaze to do anything and quo is coming up as an unsupported file, loaded in my viewty.my other option on my information trip to the high street was to get a nokia symbian phone and buy all the maps and licence in one hit and use my spare vodaphone chip in the viewty.the one that kept coming up was the blackberry but its too expensive.im trying to do this as cheaply as possible but i think i may have to bite the bullet and pay for maps or buy a tom tom/garmin all in one.I've got some kind of idea that i can use the receiver linked to google maps at the same time as its downloading from the net but again i haven't a clue how to go about it.as I've got unlimited download on O2 could this also be a way to go.im not actualy going to use satnav very often but ide like to have it when i go out rather than argue with she who reads the map when i take a wrong turn.any other suggestions????...jim

I presume by Chip you mean sim card, You mention amaze but the downlaod appears to be for blackberry not sure how this fits in with the LG but doing a google search it appears that some people are running amaze ok on the Viewty and others having problem, I have been looking for mapping for the LG Cookie Mainly stand alone location not bothered about navigation and not subscription or data usage cost due to payg because i use my PDA mainly, but it would seem to be a very grey area for Java Apps.
Googling shows a lot of mapping apps etc, but because of time issues not yet downloaded any to try.

hi aj.seems like me and you are on a mission.ive got amaze to work on the viewty but there is no sat tracking working at the moment.it tells me where to go by word not voice.it downloaded the sound files,so I'm getting farther down the road. by "chip" i mean memory card.the one i got with the navicore is a rs-mmc.the one in the lg is mini/micro.ive got a spare 8GB mem-chip that i can load stuff onto that the lg can read, that's what i was hoping to do with the navicore maps on the rs-mmc but finding maps that the lg and the navicore can sync with is beyond my experience and knowledge of phones and sat/navs.ive played with gurgle and ive got their map thingy to work but they also only give a written direction.also followed the link i found on pgps topic to vgps.down loaded the demo but its not very informative.have you any advice about it or know of where i could get a copy.im thinking that it could be the best option,if it does what it says on the tin.thats it for now before it turns into another chapter of my new novel...........lg and the navicore.....a collection of short stories...

Unfortunately too many missions at moment, having inherited broken Nokia n95 and two Lappies a couple of weeks ago due to Daughter and grandaughters misuse and sitting on phone (have not found out yet how somebody can rip out a USB port on lappy amongst other things)at the moment only had time to look for mapping for the n95 and cookie and no time to experiment so not going to be much help at moment, my main usage is with Tomtom so also keeping eye on that for alternative future.

cheers aj.its amazing what kids can do,or blame onto someone or something else.according to the ten year old my cat is very clumsy and likes to play badly with all his stuff and breaks it.maybe i should stop the cats pocket money till it learns some respect...i had a play with amaze today,i went for a little walk and the navicore dropped power, the one and only sound file ive ever heard said that there are no sats in range and when i charged it back up it didn't load amaze again.ive been on their forum and seems its a common fault with a viewty.not to worry,if i flash the firmware from 10e to 10g and do something about a pxo file it will sort it out(according to common belief on the forum.i don't know how to do it but ive got to go to my brothers in Kent (I'm in burton staffs)on Thursday and my mate is a computer geek, ive every faith in him.for the moment i will stick with google maps and persevere with finding an alternative.I'm in no rush.n95 was a phone i was thinking of upgrading to if the viewty gives me any more grief.but the map reader says the mortgage is more important than another phone.single with a tomtom...heaven....let you know how i get on and catch you soon...jim
