Those boings that go off in the latest versions of the software - absolutely brilliant, I wouldn't be without them for driving around town, with the 20, 30 & 40 mph.

What an absolute pain they are on the motorway, though. I like to motorway cruise at between 75 - 80 mph, and that is exactly the range that sets the boings off, so my motorway trips are accompanied by endless boings, boings, and b***** boings. I find that the boings actually make me drive faster than I would otherwise have done, simply to keep out of the boinging range, quite bizzare for a speed prevention facility.

Is there any way of turning off the boings for 70 mph? Alternatively, can someone have a word with Tomtom, and maybe make the suggestion?

I'm fairly sure you can't, but if you choose one of the "Polite" sounds, at least they're less intrusive.

have a look in 'Safety Preferences' & turn off 'Warn when driving faster than a set speed' or 'Warn when driving faster than allowed'

That only turns them on or off for all speeds, Ian.
Spike is trying to get them turned off for only one speed.

(Which I'm sure is not possible)

Does anybody know how to change the sound for this warning? Rather than the 3 bongs! (Polite_2) I would like to use a custom.ogg sound...as I can do for PGPSW cameras.

Unit is a TomTom One.

Sorry. Its the next step! in setup... silly me .

It hasn't crossed your mind that maybe you're exceeding the speed limit, maybe breaking the law? No doubt your speedo reads higher than the TT display, so at 75-80, your speedo says you're doing 80-90 already. That's not allowed unless you have blue lights and a siren going to warn the rest of us to get out of your way. Rolling Eyes

Blimey, Dennis, it took you not far off a year to reply to that one! Mind you, I suppose it must've taken a while to rustle up that much sanctimony, so I guess that explains it ... ;)

The overspeed alarms are a menace and toatally unreliable, in my local area on dual carriageway we have a sudden drop to 30mph for a couple of hundred yards either side of a roundabout with minor roads off and well sighted so its a quick traverse island but its not marked as a reduced speed on map, this would now appear to be the norm to drop in reduced speed zones in higher speed sections and not marked on maps thus not triggering alarms, plus those that are marked seem very unreliable.

Oops! Embarassed I picked it up using "View posts since last visit", which only shows latest, never noticed the date - you know us old folk, always up for a quick sanctimonious. Rolling Eyes Having said which, I think the speed limit was 70 even back then, unless my Alzheimers is letting me down.

on my go 520 you can set the speed limit to warn when going faster than a set speed.i have it set to warn when going faster than allowed( ie if you are going 35mph ion a 30 mph road) which is set up with one sound.but then i have it set to warn when going over 60 mph which i have another sound.this one you can change to whatever mph speed you wish. They are both in preferences safety section.

I believe on TTN7 they are set by the Maps and no otherway af changing so consequently you rely on the accuracy of the map unfortunately, especially for TT/TA users
