Hers another one I've been banging on about for years. No right turn from Horse Guard Ave into Whitehall (small street near to where a lot of fiddlers 'work')

New map? TT STILL trys to make you perform a right turn.

Google = http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=horse+guard+ave+london&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=14.723988,39.550781&ie=UTF8&ll=51.506071,-0.125635&spn=0,359.980688&z=16&iwloc=A&layer=c&cbll=51.504863,-0.126101&panoid=m_Fdf7b36bHUy_SlqkZZlQ&cbp=12,294.06,,0,5

Its been there for YEARS

I have finally completed the download, only to get an error message saying "Item was not valid after installation". I now have no maps at all on my device. Any suggestions?

Could it be you have a Go9x0 and were installing the Western and Central Europe map V 830?

I've got a 940 and was installing map Western and Central Europe 830.2305, which was the map that Home offered me under the Map Update subscription. Is that not the correct map for the device?

MrT, many thanks. I searched the forum on the error message but missed that thread. Extracting the downloaded file worked the trick, Home sees the map and recognises it as a valid install.

I love this site :-)

If you copy the new map over in TTH it should keep your original alerts.

Not necessarily true....

nbg - the file you need is MapSettings.cfg
Sometimes this file remains compatible after a map or software change sometimes it doesn't.
To try it, just copy that file from the old map folder (from a backup or before you update) and paste it into the new folder.
either it will work and you will keep all your settings, favourites etc. or it won't.

If it doesn't, one of two hings will happen. Either it will get replaced with a fresh copy, or the TomTom will refuse to start up and will continuously reboot.
To rectify that, either give up and remove the file you copied or some people have found you can "fix" the file by running the on-screen emulator in Home and saving a new favourite.

Thanks Andy, that di do the job. As Tom reported, I didn't need to make a change, just opened and closed the emulator and that stoped the reboots Very Happy

I've just 'rolled' back to the last map and Navcore.

The latest map loaded with installation errors so that I was effectively without a european and I couldn't fix with Mr T's input - I tried to extract from the Home cab but maybe I misread the instruction. Perhaps someone can paste a clearer solution.

I can only hope that TT fix it properly - and I'll try again.

If only we hadnt subscribed to the Map service there would have never been a moments angst! (Are these updated maps actually updated at all? Given the comments here it seems they have new release numbers but precious little 'new')

You will need to delete the first download.
