I received the Mapsonic software two days ago. Its my first GPS so everything is new to me.

I use a Ipaq 3870 & a Fortuna BT Clip-on.

Installation went fine and I also installed the updates from the websites. I am stuck though with a couple of annoying bugs. I have send a mail to Mapsonic and hopefully they will respond soon but meanwhile I put my trust in this community:

1. The sound does not work. The sound on my PDA is fine with any other software but the navigation voice is not there. I have the setting "activate sound" on.

2. The initial settings are incorrect and not remembered. When I start up the PDA and MapSonic, the initial language is French. The GPS parameters are set for port 1 and at 4800 Baud. This needs to be altered manually every time to port 8 and 38400 baud. When the Ipaq is reset, these parameters need to be entered again, same for the setting of the language. (my French is improving though).

3. The search time on bigger map-files is huge. I started with a full map of the Benelux (148 mb). Using this map it takes over 3 minutes before a route is calculated.

4. When driving it seems like the software is 5 to 30 metres slower than the actual position. Meaning that when the actual turn comes up, it still expects you to go just a little further.

5. I have an SD slot on my PC. When I download a map directly to the SD card and then insert it in my Ipaq, this map does not get recognised.

Thanks in advance for your tips and help.

My issues where mostly resolved thanks to the aid of the Customer Service desks. For those interested here are the answers:

1. In the pocket PC, you have to go to "settings/sounds and notifications and make sure that the tick box for "programs" is enabled.

2. Mapsonic has to be closed using "file/exit". Else it will not save the last settings.

3.Under parameters, set the calculation for "limited" this will (slightly) improve the speed of calculation.

4. No change there, can be a GPS issue

5. Doodled around for a while and finally it works

Cheers
