Have I got that correct.
I plugged in my TT to TomTom Home and it tried to sell me the latest map!!
A) Has a new one come out since January?
B) I thought I was entitled to free updates for the first year, or have I got that wrong?

You get updates to the same map for a year. That is, corrections to existing data only, for a new map you have to pay for it.
And yes there has been a new map since January, I believe the end of Feb v8.25 of the maps were released! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

...thanks. So would there be a difference from the map I got with my free updates andvthe recently released map?
Does the new map have more accurate smart planning?

Well, that's the million dollar question. Is it worth the upgrade? To be honest, the general consensus is that, during your day to day travels, do you find many new or removed roads?
The maps are now released every 3 months, but in 'theory' a newer map will be more up to date. But that all depends on the area you live in.
A new road usually takes a while to make it onto a map that you can purchase. _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE
