|
|
I recently connected my tomtom to the pc after having it off for some time. As part of the updates it updated the software inside it. I am currently on version 8.301. Since doing that, i have been having problems with some of the computer voices I have downloaded. Namely the portuguese and Italian one.
Basically instead of speaking in Portuguese or Italian, they read the instructions in english but with a portuguese or italian accent/sound.I have tried deleting these voices and reinstalling it, but the problem persists. Any ideas on what this might be and how to solve it?
The voices I have bee using are Eusbio and Amalia (for portuguese) and Luca and Paola for Italian.
Many thanks

Try the reset. If that doesn't help, perhaps the Clear Flash tool found here.
Also, check in Preferences that your language is set to that you wish the computer voice to speak. _________________ David |

Sounds like your language is set to English. I have noticed this with Paola before - sounds quite cute really.
All you should have to do is reset the language in preferences. |

Done!that was it, needed to change the language of the whole tomtom. Works fine now. Thanks guys!
I suppose this leads to another question. IS it possible to have the tomtom with english menus and the a different language when it comes to giving you directions? |

Have different problems. After updating my TT730 (from 8.300 to 8.301) I can't control my TT73- anymore using TOMTOM Home on my PC.
Have issued a problem ticket at TOMTOM. |

Hensepens, this is quite normal, at some point TomTom will release the required file needed for the PC emulator to work with the new release of Navcore software running on your device.
Whilst this is annoying it is very consistant, I don't think there has ever been a software update for the devices that worked 100% with the Home software since it was first introduced - Mike |

Guess what? My 920, updated to 8.301 operates absolutely fine in Home. I connected today just to see if there's a new map on the horizon and when there wasn't, out of curiosity I checked the Operate function in case it would download the required file. This is a record and a VERY worrying mystery - a worry because I'm not accustomed to a working update, what's wrong in there? The devil I know is preferable to the devil I don't know. I have never before upgraded the application without suffering the usual loss of "Operate my GO" in TT Home until it downloads the latest file. I have downloaded absolutely nothing since the application update (and I mean NOTHING - I don't touch QuickGPSFix or Mapshare Corruptions with a bargepole!). _________________ Dennis

As I'm sure you know, this is handled by Home downloading the .dll file itself when you attempt to use the emulator, you don't have to download it yourself.
Normally, when it *does* become available, Home says something like "Home needs to download a file to support this function" and gives you a box to click on, but that doesn't seem to have happened this time.
I've been away for a couple of days, but saw in one of the forums that the emulator was working again, so I went to it to get the file downloaded and, as you say, it just seemed to work without any *noticeable* download being done. |

Yes, Andy, I know. But I was serious when I said "Nothing" - perhaps I should have said I had not asked Home to look for updates and it is not set to do so automatically - I simply fired up Home and without looking for updates or logging in, went straight to Operate my Go and it operated. These days (since the end of the x00s!), "out of the box" and "what it says on the tin" are phrases somewhat outside the ken of TT devices, so that it worked for me got me looking over my shoulder. Thankfully, it had all the usual garbage - wrong map, wrong Application version and so on, so I got back inside my comfort zone quite quickly! _________________ Dennis

My emulator has also just worked perfectly with version 8.301 and I don't have updates automatically set either.
On earlier updates, it said "HOME is downloading a needed file" or similar but, this time just like DennisN & Andy_P, I didn't see a thing.
But when I tried to download my updates just now I got the following:

OK, the first message said Quote: | *****\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\ephemeris\QuickGPSfix-49 is invalid | soI deleted it and restarted HOME and it updated OK.
Strangely though, the details I quoted earlier says the problem is with Quote: | *****\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Download\complete\ephemeris\QuickGPSfix-48 | anyway I've now deleted all but the last one. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Interesting, I'm having similar problems today...
I can download fuel prices and MapShare info, but SafetyCams and QPSQuickfix are failing.
Deleting the contents of the relevant download folders usually does the trick, but isn't today. |

Wel, just after I received a message from TOMTOM that they were aware of the problem and are working hard to solve the problem,..... the problem is resolved.
As from yesterday it works fine again.
And yes, I didn;t change anything. I guess there was a sneak update when I started TOMTOM Home on my PC. |
