FWIW my 910 was turned around within a week. It may depend on the specific fault I guess.

Well, good news but tempered with nagging doubts!!!!

The TomTom was back within 3 days - is this a record? Inside the packet was a note advising that no fault had been found and hence no repair or replacement had been made.

On switching the device on I had to go through all the initial configuration questions, reset home location and set preferences etc etc. I assume that a "restore to factory default" had been perfromed.

The device appeared to work perfectly and behaved itself for two days. Then I inadvertently left it in the car glovebox overnight on a night when temperatures dropped to minus 5 degrees. The following day we were back to square one - fast and random menu changes without any human intervention!

Switched it off and set it aside for the rest of the day. The following day it worked perfectly again and has done every since for the last week.

I am assuming it doesnt like being left out in the cold. But have to say that was not the reason behind why it began playing up initially. So for the time being we appear to be cured - but I hope this is not going to become an intermitent problem.

Thanks to all for your helpful comments.

Chris
