Likewise - had a three hour trip with no shutdowns and all seemed to be fine. Ecoroutes worked ok too

Hmm, I hope it doesn't mean it's being knobbled like TomTom's was Confused

I'll load it and report back.

That's an interesting point. I thought the knobbled TT FM navigation was because it contravened the current legislation in some way (?non continuous transmissions). GARMIN seem happy enough to continue though.

I drove home from my mums this evening and my 765 with the new firmware turned itself off. I wasn't even navigating.

This is the first time it's happened in a couple of weeks.

In ver 3.00 the FM transmitter no longer works correctly. Either it keeps switching on and off or it is not holding its setting correctly.

There are still random shutdowns. I tried to use it on Saturday and it shut down and was a pain to get back on again. Not impressed.

Hi,

I've just picked up a 765T and updated to firmware 3.0. No problems with shutdowns but I do have a problem with the PGPSW speed cameras.

It seems that although Garmin Speed cameras are unticked and Custom POI is ticked in Proximity alerts the Garmin alerts go off and the PGPSW alerts don't. Anybody else had a similar problem?

Thanks
Kevin

Have a read through This Thread as you might find some of the suggestions useful - Mike

If you browse to your device via Explorer (when connected to your PC) what files do you see in the POI folder?

Hmm OK, the xxxSAMPLE.gpi files are the demo Database files from Garmin, the POI.gpi should be the custom POIs you uploaded. I'm not sure what the heck the 006D135900.gpi file is Confused

Can you copy them all off except the POI.gpi file and retest? i.e. remove all except POI.gpi and keep them handy on your PC.

Hi Darren,

OK will do and I'll report back after my journey home.

A couple of clues for the unknown file is that it is timed at 6PM lastnight which is when I first used the 765 in the car. Looking at it with a hex editor it contains a reference to MSN Airline New and then lots of airport names. I will take it out for now as being in the UK I assume I don't get MSN :-)

Thanks

I yes, now I've actually looked I have it too, it must be the "Added support for new MSN features - Weather Radar and Alerts, Send Routes to GPS, and Flight Delay Status" feature added in the v3.00 update, superfluous for European units though.

Hi Darren,

Great thanks that worked fine on the way home tonight and I had the MP3 speed alert voice working as well.

For info the Garmin speed file option is no longer there when I look at the Proximity alert option.

Thanks again for all your help.

Kevin

Hi

I have a 765T which I have owned for about 3 weeks. Have only 2 issues and that is it shuts down for no reason and restarts.

MP3 player can cause it to crash occasionally.

Garmin issued a small software update today (04/02/09) which is I believe supposed to fix the map draw issue

Try unticking the U-Turns avoidance. That seems to make mine more reliable. I haven't had any shutdowns with this avoidance unticked and numerous with it ticked.

I have also had the mp3 player hang on me.

These problems with the 765T seem no nearer to being solved.
Why did Garmin not release it until they were sure it was fit for purpose?
Is there anyone, or does anybody no of anyone, who is using a 765T
regularly,is happy with it and has never had any problems.

Cheers,
binty.
