The M11 between the A406 and the Stansted Airport junction is - according to the database - littered with speed cameras, yet I don't recall seeing any other than the fixed one at the bottom of the M11.
Are the 'ghost' ones ever removed from the db? |

The current map shows a total of 9 cams between the points described, and a few on side roads that may cause false alarms. 7 of the 9 are mobile sites that have been verified, which means that they have been seen by several people and the site verified as suitable by one of our verifiers. The 8th is a provisional mobile, not yet verified, and the 9th is the fixed cam that you refer to.
So all but the fixed cams are sites for mobile cameras, and you may be 'lucky' enough to see one in action, but if you disable mobile cameras, you masy be 'lucky' enough to be caught by one. I am working on the assumption that you occasionaly stray over the speed limit, otherwise you would not use a speed camera 'detection' system
If a mobile cam has not been seen for, I think it's 6 months, it is deleted from the database but I personally would sooner be warned of a possible cam, than not be warned at all.
There are a whole bunch of SPECS cams just north of Stanstead that have been removed from the database already.
I hope that this explains your conundrum.
Edit. As I have just read your post in the 'Rules for submissions for mobile sites', you are obviously aware of the nature of mobile sites, so please ignore my previous comments re mobiles. |

I'll have another look tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure that at least one site is in the middle of a straight stretch with no bridges and no laybys even, so unlikely to be a location. |

How up to date is your database?
Are you sure you don't have some old database files on your sat nav?
Can you not run a demo route to see which cameras they are?
If you get the camera type and numbers we can see what's going on. ie.e Mobile:12345
Also have a look at the Camera Submission page here and see if you can identify the cameras. |

I don't know this area personally but the Surrey Camera Partnership have taken to operating their vans from the hard shoulder of the M25. They operate from behind barriers that are present in some places adjacent to the hard shoulder. _________________ Darren Griffin |

If you have a look at the hybrid map, you can see some markings on the southbound that look like speed cam markings. However they are on the hard shoulder and lane one, so could thate have once been a temp cam for roadworks? at this location that has reported as a mobile or could it someone reporting the lines on the road? |

Hi JaTe
I think that you possibly slightly mis-understood my previous post. I was not disagreeing with you, but supporting your comments. My banging on about the lines was just a supposition as to how the cams possibly got into the database in the first place. From the Hybrid view, it certainly looks a dodgy place to park, unless the plods shin up the bank from the road below, which also seems unlikely to me. But I havn't been there lately, so what do I know?
Of course my mistype 'so could thate have once been a temp cam for roadworks' didn't help |

I have the up-to-date database (12/11) on my Garmin Nuvi and for some reason, this scamera is no longer on the database.....has there been a bug this week? I passed it on Saturday around 6pm and no warning or icon was given. |

I'll be passing it again on Tuesday afternoon and will report back. I have re-downloaded the database today just in case of a corrupt file. |

You were almost there, if you clicked on the camera you would have got the ID# at top left of the map. It's Gatso:4785

GATSO:4785@50 is on my Nuvi from the last release.
Here's the alert (ignore the icon to the left of the Alert banner - that's a different camera)
Here's the icon
