I chose "Reset To Factory Settings" and it's still the same. It says "unable to connect to server", if I go to preferences - version - network, it shows it has reception along with the IMEI number etc.

After a minute it just says "LIVE Services do not work..."

Does it have this problem with all the Live services? - can you try the weather option and see if that works.

Also on the screen where the device shows the IMIE number etc there should be an option to view services (or similar) tap that and it should reveal the services allocated to your device, do they show 3 months remaining - Mike

Non of the live services work. It says

"TomTom LIVE services do not work abroad or in an area without coverage Error code: 107"

I took a drive down to another part of the city, made sure I had reception and tried again. Same thing happened. Did a factory reset their, and still the same thing..

Where it shows the imei number etc. and sim number, it does not give me the option to view anything else, except to go back. The status says "Not Connected"

Hmm, don't want to worry you, but check you have the UK version / UK SIM.

The SIM ID should begin 8944 for UK. If it's 8931, you have one from the Netherlands.

My SIM id starts with 8944

I'm sure its the UK version..

I tried resetting it by holding down the off button for 15 seconds, that didn't work either..

I'm really out of things to try, and not at all happy being stuck with a broken unit.

There is very little else to suggest on this issue other than your account hasn't been activated on the TomTom server for some reason, give them a ring in the morning on 0845 161 0009 and let us know if they resolve the issue - Mike

I have no idea what I did, but my live services is now working all by itself! tested out a few things including hd traffic and all seems well!

Strange, but at least its working now in time for my morning commute tomorrow!

I think TomTom Home's server is not fully set-up for the x40 range yet.

Map guarantee is not working properly

There are no optional maps available. There is also no way to get a price on quarterly map updates.

No subscription for HD traffic purchase comes up as an option (it should do even in the 3 month trial period)

Some retailers are insisting the release date is next MOnday. Do you think TomTom let some stock go a little early?

My 940 is out on the van for delivery today but I am at work so will have to collect from the courier's depot this evening. As this will be a 50 mile round trip in the rush hour I was wondering if I will be able to take it out of the box and start using it to get home once I have collected it?

Or do I need to register it in some way before I can start using it?
