Anyone has got working?

I've got a 4Gb card to work, but has anyone got a larger card to work successfully & if so which brand?

I use an 8GB Peak class 6 SDHC card, and others have reported 16GB Works but only for music as the device can read the larger cards but cannot write to them. So you install the music via a card reader and its fine, if you install a map to the larger cards the device cannot write to the MapSettings.cfg file so they don't work too well for maps.

In summary for music, pictures and other read only files 8 and 16GB cards are fine, for read/ write access which includes maps stick to 4GB for the time being - Mike

Yes.
According to TomTom, ONLY the x20 and x30 models can use SDHC cards.
Here's their compatibility chart

That restricts everything else to a maximum of 4GB which I believe are the largest non-SDHC cards available. (Trancend and Topram being the only two brands I know of that do them).

I've got a 8 GB SDHC working in my One v4 no problem.
But TomTom Home can't deal with it. So 4 GB SDHC or not is the largest it can handle.

Sorry for dragging up an old thread, but have a few questions that follow on from the answers already given here:

I have a 530 and what I want to do, is get an 8or16gig SD card and use it for a map and mp3 just like lots of people do. I understand the limitations of writing to anything over the 4gb limit.

However, the map I want to put on there is the North America map, so if I couldn't add POI's, change Home location etc etc, it wouldn't be too much of an issue, as I only use it for a week or two every couple of months or so.
But what else will I lose? Are favourites stored in the map folder as well? What about the list of recent destinations?

You will loose the favourites, and even creating favourites or adding POI locations using the device will not be possible, as the price of cards is so low these days I would use the card only for music, store the map on the internal memory, it doesn't take too long to swap the map files over using Windows Explorer on the PC - Mike

I agree that would be best way to do it, but the USA map won't fit on the internal memory of the 530, even if I removed the UK map.

v805 of the North America map is 1.7Gig!
So on a 4Gig card, that doesn't leave much space for songs!

Why you'd want to put songs on a TT I don't know!

Some cars have CD players that can play MP3 CDs that you can create on your computer or you can use a Belkin iPod TunebaseFM which will give you better quality transmission.

Alternatively you can use Xcarlink

I already have a Dension ICE link in my main vehicle and use it with my Ipod every day. (Much better than xCarLink BTW)
However I spend a large amount of time driving hire cars in the UK and abroad, where there is no such luxury.

Also the TT FM transmitter is a lot better than the Belkin and other transmitters I have used in the past as well, the sound quality is actually quite acceptable for light use.

So that's me, but lets put the question other way round: If someone has just spent £250 on a TT thats does all those things, why should they go a spend £150 on an Ipod, £50 on a connection system or £25 on an FM transmitter when they already have a TT that does all those things perfectly well???
