poi.dat file

i have a go700 with map share and have 140 poi's just in map folder when i use map share to put poi in right place it only shows poi's in poi.dat is there any way of putting all poi's in that folder

It's not a task for the faint hearted. poi.dat is a compressed file that is not very flexible.

If it were possible to put your 140 Custom POI into poi.dat, you would face having to choose which category you would have to put some of them in. The number of Categories is fixed, as are the icons.

The current method of using the Custom POI files is the most flexible way, as it is so easy to load/delete a category, or a modified location.

My take on it is to leave well alone ..... unless you want to go in for advanced analysis and programming.

Two issues here...
MapShare SHOULD be able to move/add/delete entries in the built-in POIs, (and used to do it quite well) but that part of MapShare has been broken for months and TomTom will not say if it is ever coming back.

However if you wish to just ADD new POIs you can do it on the machine with Add POI category and Add POI (both in "Manage POIs") and then merge your own category file into one of the built-in ones.
