Problem With Map

Tomtom 520
UK & Rep of Ireland with no SD card

All working ok up to today when updated through Home

Accepted updates and all installed ok and device disconnected in the proper manner

When it starts up it comes up with the message:

"Problem with map
You cannot use this map on this device: UK & Rep Irl"

Reset device

No luck

Tried updating again with no luck

Installed backup through Home and still no good

Installed backup through explorer and all worked ok

Tried updating again through Home and the same thing has happened again "Problem with map
You cannot use this map on this device: UK & Rep Irl"

Reset device and still no good

Anyone any ideas please?

There have been a couple of posts on the various TT forums in the last few days mentioning this message "cannot use this map..." (as opposed to the more usual "no maps found" error).
Damned if I can find them just now, but is this looking like a software update issue?

What version is your map?

Did it come with the device or did you purchase it through "home"?

The map came with the device 7 months a go

Just reloaded backup again and all ok!!!!!!!!!!

Map is v710.1561

App 7.481

Gonna try update without downloading v8 app

I wonder if strange things are happening with the maps at the moment ??

I just went to Tomtom home and looked at add Maps ,voices etc and the map version 715 ( a GB map)is there as a download which is correct as this is the map on my device !! but also it is showing map version 660( western Europe )which I had purchased for my previous tomtom 500 .

I thought maps were locked to your sat nav as an example I could not use the Europe map which I purchased for my Tomtom 500 on a Tomtom 520 .
I may be wrong though

Just updated and this time without downloading the available v8 app and the device is ok

So there must be some conflict with the v8 app and my device!!

From reports on other forums it appears that tomtom may have put something in the new V8 release to prevent pirate maps working. Laughing

If your genuine map does not work with the V8 software it would be worth letting tomtom know.
